RMweb Premium 45156 Posted August 24, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 24, 2010 A copy of Chris Newman's Fretwork (an album I've been promising myself for years and never got, somehow) arrived from that well know online retailer beinning with A today and has been on my CD machine almost ever since. What a guitarist - when I'm fit, I'll be getting the axe out to convert my guitars to firewood. Any fans of accoustic guitar check this guy out - he's the dog's wotsits. I'd better add, there's two Chris Newmans both guitarists - this one's not the blues/ragtime one, but the flat picker.
RMweb Gold John B Posted August 25, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 25, 2010 The Girl from Tiger Bay - Manics and the new single - It's not war (Just the end of love) - instant classic! Frothing over the new album, in a month...

RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted August 27, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 27, 2010 Seem to have spent the later morning/early afternoon listening to Bonnie Tyler's greatest hits! A slightly odd end to a rather surreal week...
Tim H
Magenta - Revolutions. The most prog of all the female-fronted prog bands. And some very very silly videos on YouTube First, this very cheesy video which could only possibly have been made in the 1970s Then the same video again, but with the music from a well-known TV series And finally, the Dimmu Borgir version, which is simply surreal
Jol Wilkinson
Joe Bonammassa "Live from nowhere in particular". Great guitarist - despite playing a Gibson. It's cheered me up after reading various fothing and wishlist OPs and wondering why modellers don't make models any more.

Tim H
The Enid - Sheets of Blue. Reminds me of their stunning set at the Cambridge Rock Festival, in which they completely stole the show. Before that: Steve Hackett, Out of the Tunnel's Mouth (His best album for many years) Ayreon, The Human Equation (Prog-opera with an all-star cast of guest singers) David Coverdale, Northwinds (Proto-Whitesnake, but a bit more varied) Muse, H.A.A.R.P Live at Wembley (Completely bombastic and over-the-top, which is why I like them) Touchstone, The Mad Hatters EP (Saw them live at The Borderline at the weekend - they rocked)

HerbertHopkins
Homebelly Groove - Live, The Spin Doctors. They were quite big in the early nineties then seemed to disappear without trace. Good grundgy live album, particularly if you ignore the, frankly, silly chatter betwwen some of the tracks.
