Inspired by the current BMW 6 series Ad "unknown pleasures" by Joy Division. A dark, brooding but entirely inspirational album from 1979. The BMW ad is the Moby version of "New Dawn Fades". I downloaded that version and an Instrumental of it by Peter Hook and the light which is rather good, and of the ethereal "atmosphere".

Joy Division- not everyone's cup of tea, but I thought they were superb

A fantastic return to form by the original line-up.

Think I might like it as well, Steve - have to take a look at Amazon....

OMS today - "Close To The Edge" - Yes. One of THE prog albums IMO.

I was dragged kicking and screaming to The Stables, Milton Keynes last night by a friend to see The Enid. Never heard them before but was pleasentley surprised. Very enjoyable evening, VERY talented musicians.

Recently its been: Springsteen, Bob Segar, Thelonius Monk, Elbow, Stan Tracey, Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters, Delius, Vaughan Williams, Bartok, The Overtones plus loads of other contemporary stuff as when we buy CDs in our house they are all ripped to a common drive so we can all load our Ipods.

Saw them at Reading in 1976 (I think it was 1976 anyway) and thought they were great. Listen to "In the region of the summer stars" regularly. Wish I had known they were on last night, I could have popped down and seen them, and left swmbo watching the tennis.

They are on at Watford sometime later in the year performing with an orchestra, could be very good.

Edit...Just checked Watford 10th November 2012.

I get up ...... I get down ........ :good:

Saw them at Reading as well, also 1976 (I believe) - Also on the bill were Albertos Y los trios paranoias, who treated us to a rendition of "Tales from Topographic Toilets", Jon Anderson didn't comment............

Don't suppose you went to Knebworth, the Led Zeppellin ones?

I did, the second one on 11th August 1979. Their last concert in Britain for nearly 30 years!

Dave.

That's right, I managed to get to both the concerts - two memories stand out - Chas & Dave!! and being refused Service in the Wimpey Bar in Stevenage Town Centre because I had long hair and was wearing an Afghan coat. But I have my revenge, the Wimpey bar is now closed but I remain!! The hair doesn't though, and the coat is long gone..................

On car stereo today - new Mostly Autumn album "Ghost Moon Orchestra" - bit of a departure for them (quite "metal" in places) but good stuff!

If you like female vocalists, MA's Olivia Sparnenn is up there with the best IMHO.
