Interesting. the VAG universal parts bin strikes again!

The instrument binnacle and centre screen/switchgear/ventilation/console unit all look like those on my 2013 Yeti. Cup holder area and aircon controls are the only bits that look different. Mine has the dual climate set-up and that looks like the single version.

I thought that maybe the case, which is a shame. For me part of the appeal of running a modern classic is the interiors as it gives you the actual feel of cars of the time and if you are lucky it may still have the smell

There is a mini van at the back with a 2.0 Vauxhall redtop under the bonnet .

I have seen a picture of a mini with a TC red top cover, might be the same one or possibly a favoured conversion?

Are you talking about the outside? I was thinking that too. What is it with sticking those layers and layers of fattening  plastic add-ons and bits and bobs all over the sides and so on? I'm all for subtle skirts and air dams and so on but some   seem to take it to another level of over-the-topness.

I remember Tom Walkinshaw for some reason was invited to come down here and work on the VL  HSV   V8 Commodore back in the late '80's. What a dogs breakfast that ended up looking -  everyone here thought he was trolling us ignorant Australians but maybe he was just doing what he thought was normal because it was  an endearing English 80's thing like bands with stupid hair and annoying synthesiser music?

Even time has not blunted its lack of friends. Recently an undriven example was put up for auction. With under 2000km on the clock the owner was hoping to cash in on the current home grown muscle car boom we are having here and listed it for a million bucks.

Bidding didn't get above 200 grand, pretty embarrassing when a quick perusal of any online car sales site here will show many  common or garden Monaros, Toranas, Ford GT's and Valiant Chargers of the 70's asking and getting at least 50 thou more than that,.

Actrually I just found that someone DID buy one for $340,000 back in 2018 so there goes his potential buyer - unless that bloke wants two of them.

The body kit is a copy of the one used by Ford for the abandoned RS1700T as the owner did not want to go the overdone RSturbo replica look .as he said my car my rules and I'm more than happy with it and yes it does go like s¿$t of a shovel !

Maybe the wrong category but these will be future classics - the ABARTH story goes back a while.

A joint effort between myself and my son.

He plans to eventually progress to an Abarth Spider but the 595 Turismo will always be a keeper.

Above was as factory a few months back - things have progressed.

Alloys and detail roof wrap with de-chrome.

New drilled discs and BREMBO Calipers on order from TMC.

Jelly Bean time.

I’ve had a soft spot for the Abarth 500 ever since it was launched. They look cute and slightly mean at the same time. I’m sure they are fun to drive too.

I have a 2002 golf Mk4  auto ,the full monty version with flash pooter .Its in reasonable condition with just a few wheel arch dents following an altercation with a multi storey and me  .We dont use it much  mainly to take the dogs out a few milesfor favorite walkies and the vets .The aircon pump is gone but it only has 114000 miles so is just running in .All the brakes were done last year..Is it worth  doing the dents and aircon pump(500 Quid) , still debating whether its worth  keeping instead of spending a few grand or five on something newer though not actually better.I do like it as drives well and suits us but its not really a classic  keeper.

Cossy Escort was the best of the breed…….it was a much more nimble car and had better feedback.
