There are, of course, more from other years of production, but Mk1 Mondeos, in particular, have become very scarce. So much so that when I saw the photo posted, I didn't immediately recognise it!

I'd guess the high mileages accrued by the company cars (relatively few went new to private buyers, IIRC), and the early ones having little corrosion resistance, counted against many surviving.

Later Mondeos got much better!

Correct Model Names

1992 Mondeo

2000 Tuesdeo

2006 Wednesdeo

2012 Thursdeo

then dropped

Former neightbour of mine had a succession of old Mondeos - he would get them dirt cheap as no-one wanted them, then just scrap them when something expensive failed.

Are you sure?

Think I've had a couple of Frideoes.

Well Ford did set up a Focus group to think of names of cars. Probably did it on a Monday. They got 3 names from it.

Someone wrote in to Viz upon introduction of the Focus saying it was a shame Ford had discontinued its policy of naming its motors after top shelf grumble mags.

It's a mint one, not many about much cheaper in that condition if you look around....my wife is happier about this than me going after a Lotus Elise.

Possibly, but I seem to remember that most car makers were working 4-day Weeks, back then.....   🤣

Collegue at work has a sierra estate as his daily user on 36k miles atm .

Saw a tidy but slightly faded blue D-reg (1986?) 5-door Sierra before 7.30 this morning while on my beat-the-mums supermarket mission.

I'm guessing anything out and about that early is likely to be a daily driver....

A few cars at the car show at the local school here recently.

A Bolwell Nagari, 5.8 litre Ford  V8 in a fibreglass body:

A hot Fiat! 600cc surrounded by 5000cc's  and up:

Some kind of mini:

VL commodore. Australia's 1986 incarnation of the   General Motors J-car. As well as the usual 5 litre V8 option, GMH also offered  it with   a Nissan RB30ET turbo motor.. Beloved by the newly licensed back in the 90's when they were cheap as chips second hand,  there are very few around that don't have the deep  impression of a tree in the centre of the grill.

The survivors will cost you around 80 thou these days:

Another Commodore, probably not stock:

My favourite of all  the Monaros. Wish I'd bought 10 of them in the 80's and 90's when they were a couple of grand.  Starting price now for unrestored ones are close to $100,000 - Decent original  'Bathurst" models are now in the hundreds of thousands:

If its a genuine Phase 3 HO Falcon thats a 3/4 million dollar car, worlds fastest 4 door sedan when released.  However there are about 5 times as many of them now as were released by Ford in 1971:

The original Holden Ute:

Also of note in Fords model line ups of the time was the sporty SI  models being offered across the all models other than the KA ? One wonders why ?

It is now ST and what do a lot of ladies write on shopping lists as ST?

Spotted leaving work, H prefix Cavalier...

Whilst I quite liked the sporty Cav's, with alloys and extra aero, I'm afraid the boggo standard GM repmobile was and remains an outstanding effort in bland design betwixt the droop-snoot and Vectra stage.

I suppose if someone wanted a shell to convert into a BTCC replica it might be worth something but I'd be amazed if there's the fan base for them to reach the kind of prices Sierras seem to be attracting.

If only they'd put a 5 speed gearbox in it...

I could never fathom why they didn't just put the entire 1750 Maxi drivetrain into the Princess/Ambassador rather than the already-obsolete 1800 B-series set up from the Land Crab.
