looks to be an Azuma style dark red window band rather than Exec Dark Grey

That looks so much better than stupid swirls.  The 91s could get a similar version in their original style hopefully

And I am guessing timetabling changes post pandemic will see to it that the units are not missed, plus the 91s might last a little longer under HM Government than under a private company.  They are/were schdeduled to go in 2023 once the new trains were being delivered and some mods to Azumas had been completed, I guess a further life extension might see them stay even longer.

If they stay around long enough to need ETCS fitting?

Rail Advent posted this about the new livery a few days ago, I'm surprised it has not been posted here yet

Tuesday and Wednesday saw myself travelling between KX and Leeds,  the information given to me by the acknowledged experts is of  4 of 5 sets of Class 91 locos out  working the 2-day  Class 91 diagrams,  no-one was aware of a reason for the 5th set not out on a diagram

Routine maintenance probably, it's also factored in when diagrams are drawn up.

91127 Looked superb at the side of Doncaster Station

I really like the colour selection well done LNER.

The full set in the new livery was sitting outside Neville Hill depot yesterday and today.  Yesterday evening I thought the set was in original IC livery, only in full daylight this morning is the purple colour obvious. It does look very smart.

Way upthread I expressed the hope that the 91s would stick around long enough to be re-liveried out of the calculated tweeness of the fizzy drink design. Have to say they could hardly have done it better, it looks so much more mature!

Just have to phot it before it gets covered in flies. I'd hoped the 225Group Twitter feed might have daily updates on which diagram it's on.

The Nim.

Cheers,

Phil.

Probably the best livery since privatisation,  no stupid curves or swirls and hopefully no consultant got paid to design it. I wonder if they will paint those Hitachi things the same colours in the future

No, the plan was always that the 225 sets alone would get a new livery.

The Azumas will remain as is.

They did use a consultancy firm, but the name is redacted in the livery manual.

No chance, doing anything with the Azumas is up to switching

They still haven't been able to agree to put extra luggage racks in, in place of those end sear with no window 🙄

I read that plan had been cancelled due to rising passenger numbers?

Superb new livery ,almost a natural update of BR swallow livery British Rail in its post rail blue era seemed to put a lot of thought into train design and livery s,i remember a certain mr Branson talking about GNER running trains in the old BR livery like it was something negative ,Intercity swallow livery has stood the test of time very well GNER livery with a red stripe was also very smart, ruined by the National Express cheap looking white stripe rebrand,Virgins swirly livery now looks worn out and scruffy ,its great to see these clasdic trains being turned out in a proper livery.
