RMweb Premium MJI Posted August 9, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 9, 2015 I'm just pondering what a loco would look like if it had been produced using the same principles and panels as the Leyland National and 141/142 DMU family. Also what would a "National" Carriage look like with bus doors. Ahh here comes nursey with my medication. http://www.traintesting.com/images/Leyland%20coach%20EKR.jpg

RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted August 10, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 10, 2015 I was told once that the last GWR/BR(W) Hall Class was going to be named 'That's Hall'. Ah, my coat, thank you......

Guest
After having delved deeper into the options available on my software, I found it is possible to Modify/rebuild previous designs. As a result, I set about rebuilding my fleet with improved aesthetics in mind. All are of Western Practice. One of my first, and worst; 2-8-0: 2-8-0 Rebuilt: 4-6-2T: Walschaerts equipped Pacific: 4-Cylinder Pacific Regards,Matt Edited August 11, 2015 by TheSoutherner

When you think about it you do have a lot of "National" carriages running around, the only thing is these are Units. Start looking at about the 153s. One car units with a bus body. Coach bogie
I believe a GWR 4-6-0 was once equipped with an 8 wheeled tender although I couldn't tell you which loco it was. One of many to be attached to 8 wheel tender 2586. Mike Wiltshire
RMweb Gold Corbs Posted October 31, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 31, 2015 Hi Corbs I must say I'm impressed. What part were used besides the hst body which presumably would need to be lengthened to fit the chassis and also does it have 1 motor or 2 or 6 axle drive to give superior traction to haul say 9 or 10 mk3s + the other powercar or would the other powercar be motored aswell. That would definitely be something to see, 2 Co-Co hst power cars + 9 or 10 mk3s, I look forward to seeing it. Well done. Thanks matey, although the pic is just a couple of minutes in photoshop, I used Deltic power bogies and shortened underframe
DavidB-AU
It is possible the class 89 was meant as a Co-Co version of the hst Actually a Bo-Bo-Bo would be kinder to the track at high speed. Cheers David

MikeOxon
What about a Co-Bo 125? RMweb Gold Corbs Posted November 1, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 1, 2015 (edited) I didn't stretch the body so it still looks a little stubby, or 'busy' round the underframe... what do you think? Edited November 1, 2015 by Corbs
Astockfan101
I didn't stretch the body so it still looks a little stubby, or 'busy' round the underframe... what do you think? Reminds me of a Class 76.
bgman
I believe a GWR 4-6-0 was once equipped with an 8 wheeled tender although I couldn't tell you which loco it was. I think the sole GWR 4-6-2 Great Bear might have been a better success had it had walschaerts valve gear, a weather proof cab in a style like the cabs on the king class locos and dare I say a corridor tender to all non stop running like the LNER did. Here you go ....... Behind Saint Benedict
Guest Isambarduk
I would say that Saint Benedict is coupled to the bogie tender that was built for The Great Bear, but there was also one GWR rigid eight-wheel tender. David
RMweb Premium MJI Posted November 1, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 1, 2015 Please note that if you are designing a high speed Co Co you need Brush bogies as used on the 89 as few Co Co are OK at 125mph
