Popular Post The Border Reiver Posted March 11 Popular Post Share Posted March 11 On December 6th 1966 my friend and I decided to go the Blyth on our motor cycles to visit the sheds there and Hughes Bolckows Scrapyard. After taking photos there we spent a few hours taking photos of some steam action on the lines just north of North Blyth shed. As well as the BR lines there was a NCB line to the staiths. This line is still there albit now going to Alcan Quay, the staiths long since gone. The remainder of the extensive trackwork now consigned to history. One of the photos I took was saddle tank NCB No. 1 hauling wagons towards the staithes. The footbridge in the photo can be seen at the top on the left hand side of the NCL map (link below). The photo below shows the staiths the train was heading for.
