Despite having four-paw drive Shona can't make it through this stuff unless it's been trampled down for her.

I tried wearing snowshoes today - waste of time. The snow is so light and fluffy that the snowshoes sank all the way down :)

Happy New Year!

My Granddaughter opted to go to bed about an hour ago and is now sound asleep.

No such luck with her younger brother (3) who is still up and about and full of beans.

I'm beginning to wonder whether he would enjoy a shot of Penderyn?

I'm rapidly approaching that point:laugh_mini:.

Stick him in his car seat and go for a drive. He'll fall asleep in no time :)

I’ve always wondered why Victorian children were so well-behaved; turns out that they were frequently dosed with patent medicines often marketed as soothing cordials for troublesome tots. The fact that these cordials were a mixture of flavourings, sugar syrup, alcohol and opium (or cocaine) just might have had an influence on the children’s behaviours.

Of course, HH, I am only mentioning this out of historical interest :biggrin_mini2:

Here's one from today. Shona's coat makes it difficult to get a good photo and she's in need of a serious haircut but we keep it long in the Winter. She's a good bit overweight too. MrsID tends to spoil her. Shona is now approaching 14.

Did they make you jump into the pool wearing your pajamas, tread water for 5 minutes and then retrieve the test kit off the bottom of the pool where it had been tied to a rubber brick?

No, all I had to do was pass a simple lie detector test and answer three questions, viz:

1. Are you, or have you ever been, an admirer of pannier tanks?

2. Have you ever worn a red rugby shirt?

3. Have you ever indulged in Muddy Hollow wallowing?

On verification of a truthful 'No' to all three I was given my test kits.

The barrage has commenced!  I think Montgomery may be directing it!  A happy and healthy new year to all Night Mailers.  I shall now raise a (rather large) glass to say good riddance to 2021 and look forward to better times.  Now, where did I put that lottery ticket.

For those of us (most of us, me included) who are beset by black dogs, and particularly for our ursine correspondent, a hope that we can either get them under control, or else retreat to a bar, or in this case the Bear Bar:

Just been watching this on Youtube.

Really remarkable slab of wood. I have a slab of English elm, four foot by fifteen inches and an inch thick. Like the slab in the film it has a 'bark' edge where the bark has just been removed. As it is now very rare (it pre-dates DEM) I don't know what to do with it.

As one of those unfortunates whose black dog recently got out of its kennel I think that a get-together with some TNMers over several libations in that bar would beat the happy pills any day!
