Really well replicated scruffiness, the damp distempered brickwork is so convincing that it reminds me of my first house!

Oh, dear, something seems to have gone badly wrong here.  With the gates open and a military vehicle on the level crossing, the driver of an approaching Jinty has obviously passed the signal protecting it at danger, and one hopes has come to a stand before any harm is done.  The driver of the LNER Scammel is enough of a railwayman to have realised what is happening and is wisely staying well back!  Normally in a locomotive/road vehicle arugument the road vehicle comes off worse, but I wouldn't be so sure in this case!

Is Hilldale the county town of Metcalfeshire?

No, everything's fine! It's there for a reason!

The Jinty has been temporarily stabled just before the crossing while it awaits for the train on the same line to depart the station. It's just taking a while because a lorry has stalled on the level crossing on the other side of the station and it won't start.

The joint effort of the AA and the Police can't budge the lorry so 2 'coppers' paid a visit to the nearby Army Base to ask for help. They kindly responded and sent a tank from the 10th Hilldale Tank Regiment.

Once the tank has moved the stalled lorry, the train can depart the station after which, the gates of this crossing will close and the Jinty will head off to the sheds.

That is astonishingly good, really top notch. How did you go about painting the brickwork on that building - did you paint it brick colour than add the 'white' on top, or did you paint it 'white' then pick out the areas of red brick afterwards...? Either way, it's superb.

Photos of the real thing are not allowed! That woodwork weathering is stunning.
