Guest Max Stafford
The station was entirely re-modelled in 1966 and has remained more or less the same since then. There were a couple of sidings next to platform 1 although they went in the late '80s. A couple of locos a year? Changed days... Dave.

D6975
I've got thousands of photos that I took in the late 80s and 90s. They're in albums by class, some further split by livery, so finding locations is a bit time consuming. Searching large logo 37 and 47/7 albums gave me the ones I've already posted. I'll have a look through 47/4s, DMUs and 20s when I get a chance. I suspect that I haven't got that many more of Queen St, I've only made occasional visits there since 1990. Digging out the phots brought back memories of bashing 37s and 47s in Scotland. Not forgetting 26s on the portions. And.....those orange 'flying saucer' seats at Queen St and Perth, I expect they were elsewhere as well, but those are the 2 locations I remember them. 37023
Hi D6975, If you could dig out any photos it would be a huge help!!!!! what you have shared so far is BRILLIANT!!! A quick question about the 'saucer' chairs... where abouts were they in the late 80's ive seen photos so far suggesting they were gotten rid of and stacked towards the end of Platform 7 just after the building. Also do you have any photos facing Cowlairs tunnel as there is a small building on the right hand side but i cant seem to find many photos of it so im lost on that one so far... Also any phots of the interia canopy support walls would be absolutly spot on! thanks for your help so far its been invaluble! Photos of the layout will start appering soon on a thred i will start on the layouts part of the forum! Chris & the GQS team

billywhizz
Hi Chris, My current project is also Glasgow Queen Street and about to start building baseboards. The station throat and end of some the platforms were remodelled in early 1986 to the current configuration and the 2 sidings next to platform 1 were removed. I contacted the National Libary Of Scotland, mapping dept, who kindly supplied copies of the OS maps which show the track plan for a very small charge. Beware though, I found when cross referencing the maps to accurated dated photos some of maps have the incorrect track layout shown (the 1989 map still shows the 2 sidings in place) Also make sure they are clear on which station you want, the 1st set of maps to arrive were of Glasgow Central!! There was also an article in Traction (issues March, April, May 2009) which had some good photos of the station and an excellent article in Rail Express Modeller supplement no.38 on the Scottish push pull formations. http://rniescottishailwayrchive.fotopic.net/c858530.html http://taysideregion.fotopic.net/c15886.html http://briandaniels.fotopic.net/ Search "Glasgow Queen Street" There are hundreds of good late 80's/ early 90's photos on Flickr and Fotopic. If you need any more info, feel free to drop me a line. Regards, Bill.
