Our cat is named Patch. He is almost a rescue cat. He used to live next door, but decided living with us was a better option. His Mum was pure white. He was born with only one eye. Our neighbour kindly let us keep him after he voted with his feet. The rest of the litter were sold. We then had him chipped, neutered and insured. He is aged 7 and has been with us 6 years now. He has a wonderful temperament and is very friendly and loving. But alas he is a killing machine. As we back onto fields he kills mice everyday which he will eat, but shrews he will not eat, as they taste bitter or so I am told. He has also killed several adult rats. His largest kill was a young rabbit. I don't mind he killing vermin, but he will take birds too. But these are few and far between.

He has us very well trained and we wait on him hand and foot! But he is worth it.

He is almost like a dog and will follow me around when working outdoors. I was washing the motorhome and he just had to be involved. He loves to climb.

Cheers, Ade.

He's a very handsome young man! And you take a good cat picture.

What a great story and a very pretty girl. I'm not one for fate but...do we seek them, or t'other way around?

C6T.

We are convinced that they seek us out. We have had 6 cats in total.

The first 2 were brother and sister (3 months old black) and we acquired them through a 3rd party as the owner went to live in an animal free accommodation. He must have been a complete prat as he took the brother in his top jacket pocket to a nightclub one night.

The 3rd cat (2yrs according to the vet tuxedo) turned up in a snow shower on New yrs day under the garden hedge and stopped.

The 4th cat was a kitten (black) that we found under a hedge on the way back from the pub.

The 5th cat was a kitten (black/white) and was left in the doorway of my Wife's library .

The 6th is of course Tabby (black/white).

A bit long winded but just to prove that "yes" they know who to go to alright.

I find it incredible how animals appear to so easily overcome disabilities.

We've discovered someone who lives a couple of streets from us who takes her two cats for a walk every day! No leads or anything,  they follow her by choice!

One of my cats used to do that sometimes, when I went down the street. He didn't come with me far, maybe a couple of hundred metres, then he went back.

Less often, he would come to greet me on my way back, if I hadn't been gone for long.

One of our cats, Marble meets the wife on her way home from the school which is around the corner where she works. Instead of following her he takes a short cut through the neighbouring garden and meets her at the front door.

Our previous cat, Zeus, used to come to the park with us when we took the dog for a walk:

Sadly we lost him very suddenly at a young age (just over 4) 6 years ago now - he really was a lovely boy:

He had a very cute habit of coming in through the cat flap on a regular basis and warbling just to check that we were in - if we answered he’d chirrup and go back out again.

Husband and I were devastated when he died, and swore we wouldn’t get another cat - we did end up at that point with a second labradoodle instead as our eldest dog pined when Zeus died.

It didn’t take us long till we caved though and acquired another cat courtesy of my aunts next door neighbour who’d rescued a kitten...that was six years ago now and Tigger, despite being the youngest and smallest in the household, definitely rules the roost:

He’s a terrible assistant though - no work ethic and likes to sit in front of the laptop during work meetings.

Fantastic post, great pics and good story.

One of the foster cats pushed Dominic’s TV off his cabinet earlier, I’m not a happy bunny to say the least, it was his main 16th birthday present 4 months ago!

Luckily the cat in question has a home so she’s going on Tuesday before she destroys anything else!

Sorry to hear that Jim, not repairable I guess?. My Hornby 50 needed some  reasonable repairs after one of my cats knocked it off the layout while we were out.

Not covered for accidental damage unfortunately and the excess is the same cost as the TV!

ive ordered a new one (that I’m going to take accidental damage cover out on!)

meanwhile, someone made the charity a cat house for a local feral cat that visits us regularly, I took it out of the car last night and within seconds Lola was inside staking her claim, she won’t come out unless it’s for food!

Sadly had to say goodbye to little Cleo yesterday; she had been unwell for some time but reached the point where further treatment was not going to make any difference.

Having been with us since she and her brother were just 6 weeks old, over 16 years ago, she will be sorely missed both by me and her brother Tolly.

More tears for the loss of such a beautiful cat. I have been there and know what you mean.
