I see they described him as gentle and loving but those ears tell a different story!!

I wonder if they were battle scars from his previous life?

Also, one sort of looks like the mark given to feral cat that has been neutered and released.

One of ours has to have a daily tablet for kidney problems.  Either the pills taste very nice or he is very obliging but it is no problem at all.

I had to give Whitefur (original name, isn't it??) pills, no problem and later insulin shots twice a day. The vet showed me how and where to do it; again no problems.

Note that she crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2004 after I had her for about 16 years; she was about three or four when I adopted her.

Talking with Mrs steve1 last night and she has agreed we can get another cat. I hadn’t been 100% certain she would agree but, thankfully, she has.

There are stipulations though. We have our 2 granddaughters, 6 and 10, virtually every weekend. They are both on the autism spectrum, plus the 6 year old has ADHD.

The girls were ok with our previous two cats, Olly and Toffy, although Toffy was a bit on the nervous side. However, they were here before the girls were born.

We need a good tempered cat that is fine with children whose behaviour can be inconsistent. We’ll go for a rescue of course but it won’t be a straightforward search.

Updates as and when…

As it happens I was playing with a ginger and white cat called Toffy only yesterday - I was visiting my partner's disabled sister to paint her kitchen for her, and she feeds this cat (one of three), although it actually belongs to the retired train driver living next door!  He's an excellent neighbour, does a lot to help her.

Max's eye has improved with the eye drops. But we will have to do it daily from now on. He came close to losing it.

The vet thinks the original infection came from a badly decayed tooth. We didn't think he had any left. She showed me yesterday and his gum was bleeding. So he's booked in for an extraction towards the end of November. Would have liked it sooner, but it seems vet's appointments are as rare as GP appointments in these parts.

With Halloween tonight and Bonfire night coming up we shall ensure all our cats are in early.

Is that with Larkmead? If so, we are finding they seem to be leaving all the specialist cat treatment to a specific Vet (who is admittedly very good) and getting the required appointments with her needs booking well in advance.

Yes, they seem to be very busy and just around the corner. I couldn't get an on day appointment and had to ring first thing next day to get him seen. Then had to make another appointment at Cholsey to see the eye specialist. Fortunately she does Mondays in Didcot, so was able to get a third check up first thing.
