Clever cat, it knows that it's Hooman doesn't eat birds and mice but does use teabags!

Remains me of a former neighours cat which had obviously became wary of dragging wildlife home due to the greeting it received and had instead dragged a carrier bag home, only to get the same greeting,

Yesterday SWMBO was of the opinion these Bakery at Asda containers were cat-proof.  Today she's re-assessing that and, no doubt, shopping for more Jammies 😉

The irony is she buys things with a covering of the Devil's own coconut because she knows I won't eat them when her back is turned 🤣

Serves her right!   But don't worry, cats can eat coconut safely.

Why would they want to though remains a mystery!

Tilly is 14 today, so after giving her he birthday treat of Salmon and Mackerel I recited the ode to a 14 year old cat to her (with the relevant gender change from the original):

A 14-year old convalescent cat

I want her to have another living summer
to lie in the sun and enjoy the douceur de vivre -
because the sun, like golden rum in a rummer,
is what makes an idle cat un tout petit peu ivre -

I want her to lie stretched out, contented,
revelling in the heat, her fur all dry and warm,
an Old Age Pensioner, retired, resented
by no one, and happinesses in a beelike swarm

to settle on her, postponed for another season
that last fated hateful journey to the vet
from which there is no return (and age the reason),
which must soon come - as I cannot forget.

Gavin Ewart (b: 1916)

No sign of any sun at the moment, but she is doing the sleeping and purring bit.

This cat spends a lot of time at Romsey station. Regulars have been giving it treats. The ticket  office staff say it belongs to someone who live close to the station. Last week it boarded a train to Portsmouth Harbour and got off on the return.

Curious as to how you are progressing with Venus , not seen you mention

her lately .  Hope she's settling in better now .

Slowly but surely we are getting there. Her medication is half what it was when she arrived. She is happy to wait next to me while I put her food out, but still resists me touching her. I have been letting her explore the house bit by bit, but I need to keep her away from the back door and the cat flap. Today she made a run for it while I put her food down and as much as I tried could not get her back to her room. Needing to get to work, I decided to stack some boxes against the door from the hallway to living room and hence kitchen and back door, as Oreo can get these open. This gave her the run of all upstairs. Still need to shut her in her at night for Oreo to have access as she sleeps on my bed. And she has at last started getting a bit vocal if I am late to feed her. As for meeting between the two, Venus is curious, but Oreo is meh, it's another cat in the house, so what.

I wondered what our cats were doing, I thought they were just using my armchair for a scratching post (because why use the scratching post I got them 🙄).  Turns out they were trying to build this....
