For me as part of a day out the ride from Paignton to Kingswear is enjoyable, but I would not make it a destination for a whole day out. The ferry crossing to Dartmouth, and a walk around the town, or along the river/estuary or coast path does make for a good trip though. The Torbay and Dartmouth Railway I believe is controlled by Britannia Crossing which is adjacent to the Higher Chain Ferry at Kingswear. 23/5/2019 To my mind however the nearby South Devon Railway from Totnes to Buckfastleigh is worth a trip in its own right, cheers 8

RMweb Gold Harlequin Posted February 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2021 (edited) Hi @johnw1 Could you use the Share function in Flickr to allow RMWeb to display your photos directly in this thread, please? It's much easier for RMWeb readers to have direct access to the photos than jumping back and forth between websites. Like this for your Sincil Bank photo: It's still a link to the photo, not a copy, and Flickr wouldn't allow the photos to be shared if access were restricted so there should be no copyright issues. (As you can see it does allow sharing of this photo, for instance.) Thanks, Edited February 8, 2021 by Harlequin 7

RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted February 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 8, 2021 Listed to the end of page 16. I’ll now jump forward to page 20 so as to leave 17 on to SHMD. Can Davexoc kindly tell me where the photo described as another Bachmann day out on page 16 was taken, obviously one of the Southern preserved lines. And can LNERGE say which box the block instrument on page 22 came from? It was presumably the next box to Edgeley Junction. Jonathan

Rivercider
Ashburton Junction signal box has already been added to this thread by Oldddudders. The box now located at Totnes Riverside on the South Devon Railway was originally at Cradley Heath. The original Ashburton Junction signal box faced the main line, and was closed in the early 1900s when Totnes signal box took over. Ashburton Junction signal box earlier in the restoration project. 20/8/08 While at Totnes it is still possible to visit the former BR signal box on Totnes station which is now a cafe. Poor Old Bruce
Aspatria, Maryport & Carlisle Railway, 19 August 1989 Carnforth, 20 August 1989. One of several boxes at Carnforth, I think it must be Carnforth Station Junction. Edit - Confirmed by Beast66606. Also this one at the end of the platform at Carnforth station, looks as though it could have been a early signal box but there may be some debate about its original function. Edited February 9, 2021 by Poor Old Bruce Confirmation of Carnforth Station Junction SB identity by beast66606.
