atom3624
R2565 Oliver Cromwell has one, the new one R3865 doesn't. I converted my R2562 Britannia to have one as well - and added a Westinghouse pump to the front bufferbeam. Al. A bit late in the day with an answer, but the Britannia out of the Silver Jubilee boxed set (R3049) has a speedometer drive. I have just finished converting one to 1960s specification. I think it is nearly very good but it has still got raised sand box lids which I believe it never received in British Railways days. You can read a recent Post on my Blog https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blogs/entry/25040-a-tale-of-two-Hornby-super-detail-‘britannias’-plus-a-clan-part-2/ Hornby Britannia pt R3094 back dated to 1960.

atom3624
Just a question. Did 70k Brit ever wear that design of 'no intrusion / blockage' smoke deflector (without handrails)? If you're detailing her, don't forget the Westinghouse pump!
RMweb Gold PhilH Posted July 7, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 7, 2021 (edited) Yes, it did. https://preservedbritishsteamlocomotives.com/70000-britannia/ (Scroll down) The air pump on 70000 is relevant only to preservation days mainline running, not in BR service. Steamport Southport
Most of them did. It was due to sight lines on some routes as the handrails obscured the signals on right hand drive routes such as the GWR. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_rail_crash Britannia has got it's original design back as it's no longer an issue. It also got the air brakes at the NVR so it could work with the foreign stock. Here's what it looked like in the late 1970s and 1980s. https://www.flickr.com/photos/5611hongkong/11669909573/ Jason

atom3624
Thanks for the clarifications guys. Not sure I like it as in the NVR photo ... Adding the Westinghouse was fun. I reckon the pump's actually the correct scale, but I should have performed a little surgery to depress it slightly, which I didn't want to do. Al. atom3624
Hi there, scroll down this page ... I think it's the 9F pump. https://www.roxeymouldings.co.uk/category/92/4mm-scale-accessories-by-markits/ There's one pipe - which actually is held on with a thread and can be removed. I added extra using thicker wire, for the feed into the boiler casing. Yes, I painted it black, and did 'etch', but some paint came off, which I actually like ... Al.
