Personal experience of not being able to get to work and my friend not being able to get to see his brother who passed away yesterday.

Grow up and get back to work

I’m sorry to hear about your friends brother but you can’t blame the railway for that, if I hit news someone close was ill I certainly wouldn’t be getting the train or public transport.

I won’t grow up I’m old enough thanks but I’ll get back to playing with my toy trains, have a great evening 👍🏼

Being a railway operator myself, I am still waiting for the senior team to say thanks for everything that we achieved after nearly 2 1/2 years of the pandemic ..... probably they are still working from home...

Anyway, at least you got doughnut's, where's mine?

I’ve got one here that I saved you 😉🍩 I was proud I did what I could throughout the pandemic and I wear my railway service badge with pride but I think we all agree a thank you would of gone a long way mate.

Because there were no trains running, the buses were full and taxis where too busy, so yes, the railway is to blame for him not being able to travel.

I hope you never find yourself in that situation, its people like you that have ruined this country

I’m not going to argue with you, I think you need to leave it there

On a more positive note these arrived today so I can crack on and get D326 finished hopefully within the next few days.  Then it’ll be on to the next project for the depot, fuel storage tanks!

Cheers mate, this is the first time I’ve used them in years, I’ve not used todays delivery yet but from a customer service point of view they were great and arrived within three days.  Hopefully I’ll get it numbered over the next few days

It’s alive!!  Spent the morning fitting Biff’s decoder and connecting the stay alive which was very easy to connect, I’ll be ordering more for my other locos as it’s very good.  Next up, re-numbering and weathering.

Thanks mate, the stay alive I’ve installed adds around 5 seconds without power to which is great.

Is that an ESU one fella?

It’s defo worth it and gives around an extra five seconds running without power, it just connects to the black, red and white wires that dangle from biffs v5 decoders.  Not sure how you would connect it to the newer decoders in the new Bachmann 47’s I’ll have to figure that one out 😉

The tanks look very nice, and quite modern.

So can I make a couple of, hopefully helpful, observations.

Have you ensured your bund walls will hold the contents of the tanks it contains?

What is the reasoning behind the extra height wall at the far end? That would be wasted

money / materials, as without a dividing partition wall, the added height could not add

to the capacity.

Also, for a "modern" installation, lessons had been learnt, and good practice would see

all pipework routed over the brickwork. That avoids compromising the integrity of the bund.

Of course, if you had old, riveted tanks, which had been there for years, then almost anything

goes.

I'm sure they will look good once in place,

all the best

Hi Tony thanks for the info I’ve been doing quite a bit of research 😉 and picking Clive’s brains who put me on to an article in a copy of ‘On shed’.  The tanks, which weren’t prototypical for Edge Hill are based on those at Buxton/Springs Branch/Crewe etc and although Buxton doesn’t have differing bund wall heights, Springs Branch, Crewe and Bescot did so I’ve kind of gone for that look.  There will also be dividing walls between all tanks I just haven’t got around to them yet but they’ll be done soon.

Thanks again

Have you checked the bund capacities? (as mentioned earlier), the walls look a tad low to my untrained eye, and the tank supports will take a bit off too.

Mike.

Morning Mike totally get where your coming from, I have gone off drawings though of this type of storage though and lost count of the number of bricks I’ve countered 😂 I’ve still got to add the coping stones to the top as well though so that will increase the height a bit also.

Over the last couple of days I’ve managed to get more done on the fuel storage, making a start on the pump house and adding the coping stones along the walls, I’ve also managed up catch the lurgy so I’m trapped in the house with only housework and modelling to do!  Today I also fitted stay alives to the AL6 and one of the Bachmann 47’s, whilst the body is off I think I’ll redo the headcode as I’m not that happy with it, I’ll post a pic of the stay alive later on
