A good hours work last night, apart from a few cosmetic chairs still to do the cross over is finished, I also did the final bit of wiring on the 40 since lowering it so that’s now complete

I’ve been looking at the Bachmann new tooling class 20, now when I’ve shifted my O gauge stuff do I go for a filthy green one as there were still a couple knocking about after the mid 60’s without any warning panels or do I go for a pristine BR blue and have D8048 which received BR blue in 66 :unknw_mini:

Some interesting long check rails there, Paul. Did Templot do that for you?

Cheers Rod, it didn’t bit I’m sure it could, I just used old photos I had, mostly around the Grid Iron and I did similar on ELJ sk thought I’d add them here, not sure if the real cross over had them but they look nice and add a bit of interest, well that’s what I’m telling myself anyway haha

Progress has been rather slow over the last week but I have re-aligned the the outer goods line so I’m happy with that now, hopefully I can get the blades of the last point finished then I can start wiring it all up.  I also want to get the detailing added to the two 47’s and start getting them ready for weathering also two new arrivals will be making an appearance soon.  I also need to decide weather to go down the working point rodding route.

Today I managed to get time to get both boards set up, so the lines from the servicing shed have been fixed into position across both boards.  I’ve also been marking up the next section of wood for goods lines which will see the exit for the shed start to drop away also, I’ve also made a start on D1958

Nice thinking!

The double arrows were much easier than building a nose for D1

Coming on nicely

TONY

Thanks Tony pretty pleased so far although I’m not entirely happy with my headcodes as the original glass crumbled on both ends whilst I tried to remove the dominos so I might try and re-do them

This weeks update, I’ve added Maskol to both 47’s an cl20 which is now detailed, I’ve also started weathering it into what will be a very grubby state.  As regards to the layiut itself I’ll be ordering working point rodding soon and I’ll crack on and give that a whirl for the crossover.  I was originally going to have the entrance to the depot dropping down at the back with the incline at the front just an exit road for diesels but bi-directional for ac locos, but I now might make this the entrance abs exit road as it’ll save space at the back but I’ll keep some of that line and use it as a overflow stabling point for ac locos with the line starting to be removed.

Made a start last night weathering the three locos, first job was the wheels, must admit the bogies of the new tooled 20 and 47’s came off nice and easily, I also took the plunge and ordered the working point rodding from Dcc Concepts so that should be interesting.  Going back to red track plan I mentioned the other day I’ve had another thought, if I keep the line that drops down at the back of the layout I could have this as the entrance/exit road to the fictional electric loco stabling point (in reality this was used to stable diesel locos) well that’s what I’m thinking at the moment anyway.

Why are you keeping the electric locos in the drawers?
