A bit more free time today so glued the rest of the supports into position, pretty pleased how it’s coming along to be honest as this is probably the furthest I’ve ever got with a layout in about 30 years

Finally got around to getting some time today to crack on with the viaduct/embankment, first sections of cork have been stuck down and the point that gives access to the electric loco stabling point (fictional) and exit from the diesel depot has been fixed into poison and a bit more work carried out on it.  Also that I’d take a look at one of my Christmas presents that will fit in quite nicely

Looking good, Paul.  I do like that 108: reminds me of my days travelling from Garston to Warrington Central and then catching a 115 from there to Manchester Central.  It used to fascinate me that the 108 would arrive in Warrington Central and shunt to a siding, just before the 115s from Liverpool and Manchester arrived about the same time.  Then when they'd both left it would cross into the Liverpool-bound platform and follow the 115.  115s non-stop - apart from Warrington: 108s all stations stopper (via Widnes).

Also I seem to remember someone (a fellow student, I think) telling me there was a back way onto the station at Garston, avoiding the booking office: if you were lucky you could get away with paying at Manchester for just the trip from Warrington - and vice versa.  So I was told!! ;)

All the best for 2022.

Evening everyone and happy new year, work has slowly commenced on the trailing crossover which is on the viaduct, I have brought them a little bit more forward than in real life but I don’t think that will matter.  There’s hardly any photos of this section of track but in the two I have come across I’ve noticed that the point rodding seems to run in the 6’ which will be interesting to model (if anyone remembers my EM ELJ layout you’ll know how I liked point rodding!).  I’m also looking forward to the fact I can have colour light signals on this section of track to along with cable trucking.

here’s a couple of photos of tonight’s progress and the two photos I have of the Junction found by searching the tinternet for many hours a couple of years ago.

Work has slowly been progressing by getting chairs threaded and rails cut to size etc, I need to make the two ‘vee’s’ next though before I can do much else.  Hopefully I’ll get these done soon but training with a new TOC has begun

Well I’d forgot how fiddly making vee’s (well the wing rails) are in 4mm, that was one advantage in 7mm track building was far easier!  But I’m slowly getting there in between route learning.  Hopefully I can get the junction finished in the next week or two, I’m also waiting on slide chairs so I might just crack on with the cable trunking and point rodding.
