Popular Post Andrew P
My love of the typical picture postcard bucolic Branch Line, has never gone to far from my mind. It was kick started again on the visit to the Basingstoke Exhibition a few weeks ago. Now many will be screaming "DON'T GO TO SHOWS", as this is what happens. New ideas come flooding in. The two highlights at the show for me were Bodmin General, in N Gauge, and Pine Road in OO. I guess another reason I'm always drawn back to Cornwall is that fact that my Parents met there in the little Hamlet of Chapel Amble towards the end of the War. They were later married in St Kew Church and so even though Dad and I were both born the other side of the Tamar, Cornwall still has the biggest pull. (Maybe I was made in Cornwall, I'll never know). I also had a bit of a rum ancestor deported from Bodmin Goal, and is mentioned as being in Ned Kellys Gang. And so this is the story of Trewithen, a typical Cornish GWR (Great Western Railway) BLT. Like a previous BR/WR BLT of mine, Pencarne, Trewithen is set around the Bodmin area, with the main GWR Route going to Bodmin and beyond, whilst the other Route takes the line to Boscarne, Wenfordbridge, Wadebridge and the Withered arm of the LSWR, (London and South Western Railway). The Track plan is almost a copy of Bodmin General. As a point of interest, if you Google Trewithen you will get, Trewithen Dairies, Tea Rooms and Guest House, all three are many miles apart from each other, and as far as I can find out have no connection other than in the name. I also chose this name because it doesn't have a Village as far as I can see, but when I worked for Arla Foods, (think Cravendale Milk and Anchor Butter) we used to collect from Trewithen Dairies, on Bodmin Moor, hence another connection for me. The area is 11ft x 7ft, and also think Mac Pyke's Berrow Branch, or the late John Flann's Hintock.
Popular Post Andrew P
And so a start was made a couple of weeks ago. The building forming the Village are set on blocks and will form a typical Cornish Fishing Village look, think Looe, Port Issac etc. There will also be a small Harbour. The Goods yard is not laid yet so hence the bent tracks. Edited April 3, 2022 by Andrew P

Danemouth
Dear Mr P, I am looking forward to seeing this layout develop. I have enjoyed your diesel layouts but preferred the steam ones, paricularly Pencarne. Much of the trackplan is similar to Danemouth without the bay so I have an affinity with it. If only had your modelling skills 😒 Keep the good work up and the pictures/vidoes flowing, Dave

Mike. Cheers Mike, Ken is 75 next week, and I'm 72 in a couple of weeks, but the other two are just kids at 58 and about 34 ish. Still a good combined age though.😮😁👍 4

Popular Post Andrew P
The Track is now all laid apart from the Sector Plate, The Dairy and Goods Yard. Digital cameras are a god send when you want to see if tracks are lined up right and no kinks etc from areas you cant get to with your head.😁

Thanks, Its a copy of Bodmin General, with the exception that General had a Carriage Siding and Engine Shed where my Dairy will go. I have done away with the Engine Shed as I feel the Dairy will give me more operational interest without cluttering up the Layout. 6

SteveyDee68
Andy - lovely to have you back on RMWeb again with a new layout thread (I thought we might lose you!) and already you have made more progress in a few days than many (including myself) will do in a few months/years! I do like your method of planning - and there are definite echoes of "Doc Martin" in the views you posted from between the cottages looking down towards the station. Looking forward to see how you develop this layout. HOURS OF FUN! 2 2 1
shedman
Hi Andy, it's really great to see that your change of plan has heightened your enthusiasm, and got you back to the "High Speed Andy" we've grown accustomed to! Long may it continue. Trevor 2 2 1

Then RM Web went down so it has given me even more time to work on the thing. 7

Andrew P
For the Fiddle Yard, I have a 5ft Swivelling Sector Plate. This will be about 5 or maybe 6 roads and this will also feed back to another 4 or 5 kick back Roads for Stock Storage.
Popular Post Andrew P
6412, Here in lies a tail. Its one I bought a few years back, and weathered up. I then sold it to a friend of mine for his Torridge Layout, and now it's come home to Daddy, and will reside on Trewithen.😁 NOTE, = I need to dig out my Fuji Camera for pics on here.
