As it would appear that few if any trains will be running over the exhibition weekend which  would mean that the free vintage bus from Wigan Northwestern Station may not be needed.

Car Parking on the other hand certainly will. Luckily surrounding the Sports Centre is a large free car park within easy walking distance of the Exhibition. If you look back to Woodenheads post of Page 3 you will see its location.

Follow the Brown Signs for Robin Park and the DW Stadium and you will be in the right area.

Souths Hants MRC on tour! Just picked up the van for Hope under Dinmore, will be loading up this evening along with Eastwood in a separate van ready for the long hall up from the South Coast for both layouts and their operators. This event involves nearly half of our membership! But we are all looking forward.

Really looking forward to getting back to the Wigan exhibition. It’s long been one of my top two or three exhibitions. The mere fact that it’s still going due to the efforts of a small local team is remarkable. Let’s hope that, despite the rail strike, the “economic headwinds” and the unbelievable shenanigans of our new government team, it’s a commercial success and continues into the future. The hobby would be much poorer without the big Wigan show. Well done also to Wigan Council for making the sports centre available.
I’m a bit disappointed that there are no Continental layouts this year and I understand that trade support is reduced. But the quality of the layouts on show looks really high. In the absence of Continental, I’m particularly looking forward to seeing a few excellent Pre-Grouping layouts.
As a Wiganer myself, I take it for granted that, one, it will probably be wet and, two, there will be pies! 😊

Chapel is set up..  despite being unloaded in a torrential downpour.

Both of our kit built Fells will be in use at the weekend!

Say hello if you pass by!

I spent a long time with that layout last time I saw it.  I expect to do so again tomorrow.

Most enjoyable day out being back at Wigan, seemed like a lifetime since the last exhibition.

As always some really top class layouts.

Well done to all the team, friends and helpers.

My first visit yesterday to the Wigan show yesterday and indeed any show on what might be described as the northern circuit. I normally visit those around the south and midlands.

A great selection of layouts; some of which I'd seen before but well worth seeing again and plenty of new ones too.

It was a bit difficult to gauge numbers as it's a spacious venue with the exhibition spread over two halls. Consequently, the aisles are wide so there was plenty of room to see layouts from all angles without having to muscle my way through a crowd for a decent viewing spot. The footfall seemed steady throughout the day with people still arriving as I was leaving around 3pm. Car parking presented no issues. I know AA signing is ridiculously expensive but I didn't spot any external signs or banners for the exhibition on my relatively short journey from my parent's to the venue.

Thanks to @Tony Wright for some loco doctoring on a kit chassis and good to see @Barry O on the rather excellent Chapel-en-le-Frith. Being away from my usual haunts, it seemed odd not to spot the familiar faces I see nearer to home.

Thanks to the organisers, exhibitors and traders for a great show. Well worth the journey and I'll definitely be back.

Glad to be back to the Wigan show. Another first class show with a healthy mix of trade and layouts. Charwelton and Chapel-en-le-Frith were both superb layouts, as was Alloa and the big O gauge GW layout Newchapel Jcn. Quite a number of well made small layouts also, all were well worth viewing.

Bought a couple of old Hornby blue / grey sleeping cars, and a wonderfully illustrated Morning Sun book on Detroit Railroads - what more could one want, such diversity at Wigan.

I gave the pies a miss though, sacrilege !!
