Hello Steve

So sadly I don't I will have to print out another one of these as there is a bit of warping and i need to make adjustments to the base mesh to allow for motors, wheels etc. I haven't de-sprued my detail print yet, which im super pleased with so can grab a picture of that if you like to show how I have supported it? And next time I do a print will grab a picture for you if that is of any use sir? Assuming it comes out ok that is ;)

It's always of interest to see how others are supporting their prints, and  it look fantastic even at this early stage. I have my first GWR 7mm wagon printing right now, and will post it when it is cleaned up.

on the warping, is it too far gone for hot water and finessing?

Hello Jason

I have heard about this hot water trick does it work? I sometimes use hot water to remove supports!

Been ages since I have posted been super busy with new jobs and all that life business that seems to get in the way of Model making sadly!!

Have a few things on the go at the moment

Continuing to focus on the Clubs layout with the addition of this Signal Box for Smithfield's I still need to add some additional elements inside, thinking a token machine and clock on the wall, along with painting up a chap to stand inside. Kevin the electrical genius at the club is going to fit some lighting inside, and get a light for inside the stove which i have hollowed out to take a small LED Bulb.

I also need to knock up some guttering to finish the exterior

IMG_0377.jpeg.ca3761f1e4a0f9a46c50e118c66527df.jpeg

Besides this Brighton Inspired Signal box, I have started work on a small supporting platelayers/storage Hut to sit alongside. Still a bit of cleaning up, windows to print and fix, but would like to create a little tool rack an table inside so we can light the interior up.

Early days with this!

IMG_0382.jpeg.75104d3ad2791a02af9b502ffad608fe.jpeg

Additionally been cracking on with the L77, N7 Loco, thanks to @thegreenhowards help we have managed to get the Dapol Jinty Chassis to fit this, I now need to knock up a small  pony truck to sit behind the Jinty Chassis and then see how she runs!

I don't think this will be my final print will do another and see if I can clean up some of the surface detail.

I already have printed all the detail parts to go with the loco so hope to show some progress later on in the year!

IMG_0390.jpeg.9fdd6f65ebd377824529ad2c7499bed1.jpeg

And finally some additional printing on this Brighton full brake in early white and Umber livery which is possibly a bit ambitious , I'm going to have a crack at lining soon, so shall see how that goes!

IMG_0387.jpeg.161ca7414ebcf929775ce4136010b292.jpeg

And finally been working on a few more 7mm wagons in the background, which I have to say I do enjoy knocking these up!

7mm L&YR Fish van primed in white

Hopefully I can find some time to finish this lot off and more, If I can get a successful finish on the LBSC coaches would love to knock up a rake of these for the Club Layout to run alongside the GNR coaches we have that also share the Terminus

You can see progress on the club layout here

Cheers

Rob

Hi Rob,

Those wagons look fantastic with a coat of paint on them. The Lanky fish van is a particular favourite of mine. I’ve one brass and two white metal versions in 4mm and rule one applies when running them on my Anglo Scottish fish train through Carlisle. I’m sure the odd one must have crept in from Furness/MCR metals.

Any more progress on the sales of your .stls?

Thanks Stephen good to hear from you chap :)

I don't have any plans at the moment to sell my stl's I did consider it, but to be completely honest, i am super lazy when it comes to sorting all that stuff out! I love spending my time making stuff! Hence why I never started printing stuff to sell, too much of a time sync, and not what I enjoy doing if honest! I enjoy the initial test prints, seeing the model come to life! But after its done I move straight onto the next thing!

Bluelightning has got a couple of my models and in @wainwright1 in 4mm but I know he is super busy at the moment, if I do sell any of my models it would be through him.

But otherwise i'm really focusing on 7mm gauge at the moment, mostly to build stock up for Smithfield for exhibition next year

Cheers

Rob

More 7mm wagon shenanigans this time I have printed and had a go at some heavier weathering on a couple of these wagons. Which has been fun, just messing about with weathering powders :) I need to finish the roof on the cattle wagon, and then these wagons will hopefully be for Smithfield the clubs exhibition layout.

GE Cattle wagon, L&YR Sand wagon, and a 28FT LSWR road wagon which I quite like how this wagon has turned out  and I fancy printing another, but need to model some Meat Wagons to add for loads!

I’m sorry, I’ve not been on for a while - yes, it definitely works - I had to use that method on a GNR G1 which came out somewhat bent

All good now, just don't seem to have had much spare time over the last few months. On the up side, I'm unboxing the printers, so hopefully I'll be able to do some work with them soon - if I can remember how! 🤔

Do you work off photographs or do you obtain the engineering drawings?

I do a bit of both, work from drawings I can get online or from books, but just as importantly i use photographs as well, to cross check the details

Finally an update on the 7mm LBSC Billinton's i'm building for the clubs smithfield exhibition layout

I'm going to start a thread in Pre-grouping as I build these to discuss them in more detail!

They have been a major pain in the backside with the dreaded banding due to suction on the FEP, so going to have to split them up into smaller components for printing... skoolboy Error really my own fault I should have done that in the first place

Still have the glazing to put in, and add the third class seating, and then fix the roof on! Oh and try to see if i can find some suitable transfers for these in 7mm

Third class 30ft LBSC Billinton in Umber livery
