Oh and up by Moles/The Porter there used to be a second hand shop crammed full of trains. Unfortunately I only went in there the once before it shut ☹️

The other place we used to go (apart from the Bath Pram & Toy Shop and the Modellers Den) was Cyril Howes, by the Abbey. Their main business was cameras, but they had a sideline in model trains.

Of course, we also had Woolworths for Airfix wagon kits too.

Of course, but a little before my time ☺️.  It's sort of still there, in that there's a shop selling cameras in that shop.  I think it's London Camera Exchange these days 🤷

We had a a "Pram &Toy Shop" in Midsomer Norton when I were a lad (now an Entertainer), wonder if they were related?

That was Dave the ace figure painter, my friend Dennis still sees him at shows.

Moles sort of bought him out of the premises I think, but are just now closing or closed themselves.

Mind you, back in the day Moles above pavement level was mostly "The Porter", where I think I purchased my first under age drink.

"Underage", what a distant concept that is....

That's my memory of the place. It was tiny but stuffed to the gunwales.

I am very happy to report that the reprint is now in stock, and all pre-orders that I had received have now gone out.

It is already selling well, James at Bill Hudson books will have his copies by now, and this morning I delivered stock to Harry Wainwright at his brilliant Oldfield Park bookshop on the west side of Bath.

He's guilt of selling me GWR literature, but I didn't know no better in them days...

Forgive him Father, for he has sinned. (In quite a good cause I suppose)

And bless you.

Apologies for these ecclesiastical references, Harry is now also a Reverend, working for the Bath and Wells mob....

I took several pictures of him earlier today, he asked me to be kind in selecting which one(s) I used(!)

Here he is doing his "Don Corleone" thing.

I somehow felt I had to buy a book from him - "And Away" by Bob Mortimer.

Obviously a man of impeccable taste and sensibility.I have an affinity with the Diocese of B&W as both I and subsequently my son were baptised within. Sadly, the church itself is no more,it being the victim of an ecclesiastical Beeching cut.

Congratulations on the reprint.

By coincidence I bought a Bob Mortimer book today, The Satsuma Complex, though mine came from my favourite charity emporium! 😊
