RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted May 22, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2023 (edited) Great photos - thanks for posting 😀 I’ve even got some model sugar beets with which to load the wagons. Strictly speaking they’re HO rather than OO but hopefully no one will mind… Cheers Darius Edited May 22, 2023 by Darius43 3

RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted May 25, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 25, 2023 (edited) How I did the beet loads. Load support “tables” made from 2mm thick card and glued together using pva. Tabletops painted black (to stop any light card colour showing through) and tables dropped into the wagon. Neat pva applied to the tabletops and beets spooned on - pressing them in gently with fingertips. Beets secured in place using diluted pva - sort of ballasting with beets. Loaded wagons join the rake. Cheers Darius Edited May 25, 2023 by Darius43

Thing about sugar beets is that they can bounce out and a flying sugar beet is like a cannonball! We had problems with them here in the East of England with overloaded lorries and trailers being hauled at speed by tractors on poorly maintained fenland roads until the police started clamping down on insecure loads. You could find them spilled on the roads. Attractive wagons though.
