Fortunately just before the view was obscured by this York V2 heading home with the early evening KX-Dringhouses Class C.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 3 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 3 A last look at the V2, one of Timara's best weathering jobs, in my opinion. Then its time for another A3. Minoru of 34A has an Up Hull-KX. 39

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 4 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 4 One A3 is swiftly followed by another, 60065 is in charge of the 5.35 KX-Newcastle, one of Grantham's most prestigious duties, and has been very well prepared for the job.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 5 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 5 The Newcastle from a rather higher viewpoint. an and while awaiting departure. I thought long and hard before including this, because of the various things protruding from the A3. The problem is though that if I excluded all shots on those grounds I would be very limited in what I can actually show, as there are so many of them all around. In the end I liked the rest of the composition sufficiently to justify inclusion. You may not agree, of course.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted February 5 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 5 But the real railwayscape was just as infuriating in blighting composition of a moving train image. Not an issue. 16
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 5 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 5 Last two of 60065. I do like this going away shot, though it does mean a lot of lattice shopping. Every signal at the North end is in shot. Less lattices but more light to contend with on this one.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 6 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 6 Here's a strange train. This is the 3.02pm from Grimsby which has made the usual slow progress this far. However, instead of terminating as normal, this one continues to KX, arriving at 10.02pm. Just the seven hours for the trip then, if anyone was mad enough to do that. The usual Immingham B1 has brought the train thus far, but Flying Scotsman will take it the rest of the way. Later, we shall look at the formation of the train.

There's a place for expresses but I prefer gentle meanderings giving time to appreciate the views! Roja
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 6 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 6 So, here is the motley collection of stock behind the B1. First, a confession. I did not look at the CWN when putting this train together, and relied on the details on the slide of the sequence. So, the leading BG should have been attached at PN, but I had it come all the way from Grimsby. What's more when it got here I discovered I had a coupling problem, so it got swapped for another one, as you will see later. So it did have a BG attached at PN after all. Then the passenger stock, which will return on the 5.52 stopper from KX tomorrow. Then that van. If I'd looked properly I would have seen that it is described as M&GN fish. But the CWN doesn't say that it was either attached or detached at PN, so I'm not sure what that is about.. Then another BG, which did make the whole journey. Both BGs are marked " intermediate", and I'm not sure what that means either. Can any of our visiting railwaymen help? They both had a quick turn round at KX, returning at 12 45am to Grimsby, and 2.00am to PN. The train then stopped at PN for twelve minutes during which time the engine change took place, and probably some loading and unloading of the BGs. Then Scotsman took another 2 hours and 48 minutes to do the 76 miles to KX, stopping at nearly every station on the way. The record of the engine change must wait for the morning. 29

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 7 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 7 B1 ready to come off. and a few minutes later, Scotsman is on its way. Shouldn't be any wheel slip with this load. The HMRS survey shows 60103 0n this duty on 7th July 1958. Later in the week 60033 worked it on two successive days, so one assumes it was part of a normal diagram, rather than a sign of an engine in poor condition and relegated to light work.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 7 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 7 Two stopping trains now, both scheduled to arrive at 7.12 pm. From South Lynn we have another Ivatt 4... while from KX, the 5.00pm stopping service in handled, no doubt with ease, by Great Eastern.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 8 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 8 Here is that very shiny A1 at journey's end. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 8 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 8 On the Down slow we have a J6 returning the Holme pick up to New England. while on the main Copley Hill A1 Aboyeur heads for home with the 6.10 KX-Leeds. 33
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted February 9 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 9 Aboyeur again, still from a slightly elevated position, which a lot of people seem to like, and with an experimental heavy crop for this location.
