When checking through the photo files today I came across some taken by my good friend, Bob Baird of Harburn Hobbies on one of his regular visits. They must have been taken not far short of twenty years ago!

Hi Eric

Some lovely photos and it looks like some were taken from different angles to your usual photos you post.

I do like the high level views as they show just how good the scenics are on your layout.

Regards

David

Regular daily turns for the Haymarket number 2 link included the Aberdeen - Kings Cross fish traffic and here are some of them captured by local photographers on the first leg of the journey south to The Waverley

Eventually the new Bachmann V2 was worked on and modified with a new drawbar and the smokebox door trimmed to something more realistic. It is running in well.

Another couple are just about finished and are the inside cylinder variant both from Haymarket whilst this one is a St. Margaret's engine.

Now Coldstreamer. the Nu-Cast kit, has some company!

A return to the disappeared photos with some from a posting in 2011. A bit like a partial reprint of a railway book!

Good evening Eric,

Splendid pictures!

I like the way you've modelled the strip at the base of 60507's tender tank (which used to carry the stainless steel embellishment for the streamlined services - its tender originally being attached to the blown-up A4 at York during the War).

It's a feature I've rarely seen modelled. Both 60001's and 60002's tender had the strips (the only other streamlined non-corridor tenders to display it), as did the 'Coronation'/'West Riding' A4s fitted with either 1928-style or 1937-style corridor tenders. I've added it to my own 60002's and 60022's tenders because I think it's a detail worth including.

Regards,

Tony.

With snow all around just now it reminded me of a disappeared posting on page 3 here from 1st. December 2010 during that bad winter - quickly set up in the garden. On one of the Colour Rail catalogues from years earlier the cover photograph was of one of the Haymarket A4s running through Cockburnspath on an up train in a snowy winter scene.

60024 is still running well!

Eric,

Back to the days of Kitmaster Mk 1's ? The snow scene is very topical today.

Brian,

Yes, Kitmaster indeed!  back to 50 years ago when they were built. way ahead of their time,

Here is the 5 coach rake with Pearl Diver. Usually there is a Gresley Full Brake in as well.

Very nice Eric. I put some of those together, but my mother threw them out while I was at Law school, because she thought " I had grown out of such things" All my Trains Illustrateds, Ian Allans and spotting books went too.

The backscene and lighting on this layout are just perfect, they show off the Brunswick green locos and marron stock just right.

My guess would be about 5pm around late May/early June or an Indian summer perhaps?

Regards Shaun.

Sorry to read of the “clear out” your mother undertook Gilbert. All that information gone.

However, fortunately you did not grow out of it as we would not be able to enjoy all the fine work of Peterborough North, always wonderful to view.

Shaun,

The time of year I took into account was between June and early September. From mid September on the nights fairly draw in fast here and the leaves in the trees start to turn various shades of brown.

Another deleted photo from December 2010.

Back in the evening of the Winter Solstice in 1958 one of the local lads visited Haymarket and with the haar coming in fast from the Forth, quickly took a few photos including this one of the A2/1. However, when he received his developed Ilford film back from the chemists he was amazed to see two locos in it!
