RMweb Gold 4630 Posted June 22, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 22, 2015 This "black n'white with a touch of colour" can get addictive. Now look what you've started, Peter. Network Rail's New Measurement Train led by 43014 'The Railway Observer' approaches Hebden Bridge with 1Q36, 11:10 Heaton T&RSMD to Derby RTC on 22nd June 2015.

RMweb Gold 4630 Posted June 22, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 22, 2015 Wonder what's in the orange box? I'll see your orange box and raise you some red bogie hoppers.
Peter Kazmierczak
Russ, your picture of the Cl.66 and hoppers works well. My container photo is too "contrived".
RMweb Gold 4630 Posted June 22, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 22, 2015 Russ, your picture of the Cl.66 and hoppers works well. My container photo is too "contrived". I wouldn't have said so Peter. This is only a bit of fun really, but it's a useful exercise to get one thinking about what might work well with B&W and with a colour pop. In my view, my image would have worked better if the hoppers were a larger element in the photo. Unfortunately that day was misty with constant drizzle so the image was not as crisp as I would have liked and cropping to improve the composition would have resulted in too grainy an end result. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 23, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 23, 2015 Russ, your picture of the Cl.66 and hoppers works well. My container photo is too "contrived". I quite like it Peter - all clever fun far beyond my abilities but some of the pics are very effective.
eastwestdivide
This colour isolation thing is a lot of fun once you've found some decent instructions: But it can look just plain weird: Edited June 23, 2015 by eastwestdivide
Peter Kazmierczak
Down amongst the 3rd rail this evening, with 444028 and 5732. Actually I was in a safe position, well away from any live rails. I'm not THAT daft..... The low evening sunlight at this time of year can prove challenging when trying to take photos.

Peter Kazmierczak
Well done to Turbo Tim and Porcy Mane. Yes, Starcross station is in the middle of the picture across the River Exe. Viewed from a Paignton - Exmouth Cl.143.
bluebottle
So the nearest I've ever been to that view was hitching down the M5/A38 towards Plymouth. Over thirty years ago. After dark. I want an easier one next time, Peter!

Peter Kazmierczak
Indeed you did Mike - my omission. Actually I was in a Class 142 rather than a 143 if I recall - in the days before FGW got shot of them.....
Peter Kazmierczak
The "creative" bit is imagining the level crossing gates closing and the "Pines Express" steaming past. Corfe Mullen Junction last week.
Turbo_Tim
Well done to Turbo Tim and Porcy Mane. Yes, Starcross station is in the middle of the picture across the River Exe.
