RMweb Premium Popular Post jamie92208 Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 8, 2021 Good moaning from a Charente that isn't getting more Maritime at the moment. It certainly got wet and blown about yesterday. In the evening we went to a quiz but it went on too lo g and we staggered in home at about 00.30. We must be getting old. Anyway, thoughts are with Lucy. Not sure what today will bring but if it stays dry I may even do some pruning. Regards to all. Jamie 21

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 8, 2021 Morning all from Estuary-Land. First of all best wishes to Lucy and hope she recovers soon. Have to go shopping for a new kitchen clock today, I still keep looking at the blank space/empty hook on the wall. I have a double points card from Tess Coes to use so I will have to make a shopping list of things that I need to get to get the most benefit. Muggatee awaits, be back later. 16 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 8, 2021 Well having surveyed the vast NHN estate (!) we seem to be undamaged, no trampolines to be had in the garden, so just some re-distribution but not loss of some garden items not lashed down. The bin men sensibly left the wheelie bins on their sides after being emptied, nice touch. 75mm of rain in the gauge, no wonder the Koi pond is overflowing, but the new bilge pump down by the garage is working fine. 6c feels like 2 is stopping any work down there though, when it is so windy (still) there's no point in trying to heat the garage. Cold we can deal with, cold and wind is too much. 19 1
Popular Post simontaylor484
Posters are making a Hash of the jokes can we have the groan button back please. A little drier here today Dpd have delivered the replacement parcel to the one Hermes lost so a thank you email will be sent to the retailer for their efficiency. Special thoughts to Lucy the doggy and Flavio and Mrs Flavio. I'm just killing a bit of time before going to get jabbed 17 2 1 1
Popular Post AndrewC
Moaning all from the boring borough. Booster last Thursday. (Pfizer) Felt like carp ever since. Knocked for a loop Monday evening. Went to bed at 6, woke at 5 Tuesday am. Was supposed to go to Birmingham for a meeting. Got all suited & booted. Never made it out the door. Another 6 hours in bed. Finally starting to feel semi-human again today. @Tony_S I don't have an olive puller. The few times I've had to replace a connection I simply used a Dremel with a cutting wheel. Far more satisfying. Hoping Lucy's next round of treatment does the trick. I've finally managed to trace my security software's hatred of the site's adverts. It is down to ads served up by Google that link to certain click bait sites. Until Andy Y and Co come up with a cheaper alternative to the full on subscription, my ad blocker will remain on guard. Time to juggle double booked meetings for the next 2 hours. <sigh> 11 1/2 working days left in the year. More coffee needed. Enjoy the day. 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post PupCam Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 8, 2021 Morning All! Leave the hangar locked flying has been scrubbed for the day .... Sorry to hear of Lucy's continued troubles so SPTs (see what I did there Bear?) winging their way to Switzerland for all concerned. Currently awaiting the flooring men to turn up. They laid the self-levelling base yesterday (2 coats actually) which has now set and so they are coming back to lay our chosen surface this morning. It'll be nice when its done even if the credit card will need a trip to the Intensive Care Unit! Today will be spent ruminating on what is to be done with the Beeza's engine. Apparently the replacement crankcase is already on its way (via an ex-aircraft carrier) so that will be interesting to see how it compares with the butchered original. As it happens the left crankcase is where the engine number is stamped so the engines identity will change which means the bike will no longer have its "original engine" and thus will not be "matching numbers" as indicated on the dating certificate. Face? Bovvered? Not at all, I'd rather have an engine that ran well and didn't seize every 500 miles than one with the original left-hand crankcase! Now, where did we put the original Flying Scotsman? On a different subject; I might even "do" my Christmas cards today. Unlike @chrisf I'm afraid I derive no pleasure from writing Christmas cards. Makes you wonder why I bother Bah-Humbug! Have a splendid day Alan 18 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post Joseph_Pestell Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 8, 2021 Nice Ms Kirkwood told us this morning on the BBC that storm Barra would be less strong today than yesterday. Not much sign of that here in Cheshire where it is persisting down and there is still plenty of wind. I should be moving my boat along the canal today but I might give it a miss. Could be difficult controlling a 60' boat on my own in this weather. 1
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 8, 2021 I haven't sent a Christmas card in years. Before I retired we had agreed in the office not to send Christmas cards to each other and donate to a local charity instead. I am in touch with my nearest and dearest by phone over the holidays anyway. 16 1

RMweb Premium BSW01 Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 8, 2021 Good morning everyone Well it’s stopped raining, but it was still at about an hour or so ago, I’m glad I’m stopping inside. The plans for today are to continue working on the water tower, the tank has had over 48 hours to dry so weathering can begin. I also have to be on door patrol, as Sheila will be tackling the bedding using an ironing board etc. The adverts at the top and bottom have gone, but the latest on the R/H side still pops up, but it can occasionally be turned off, some progress. Back later. Brian. 16 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) Well the dentist was visited and chief mechanic's sister did the service and I spent about an hour in the chair. Broken tooth filled and it was an awkward one and that took quite a while. After that the displaced temporary filling was replaced but I've got to wait until February for the permanent job as it's adjacent to the tooth I had removed a couple of weeks ago and apparently the jaw needs to heal fully. This will be a job for the top man as it's even more awkward than the one I've just had done. Even then there are doubts as to how successful it will be and if not then even more work will be needed. Root canals and crowns have been hinted at. Oh deep deep joy. The only good thing is that most of the cost of that is covered by Denplan. So far the treatment has cost nothing extra. Numbness has now gone so I can have a cuppa without dribbling and think about what I'm going to have for lunch. Popular Post Erichill16
On the subject of Xmas cards, we (SWMBO) don’t sends them any more, just give a donation to the Salvation Army. Swmbo used to make her own and spent absolutely hours doing them and in return we usually get a paper thin one which hasn’t even been addressed to us personally. Some people really appreciated the cards and would save them with the Christmas decorations. At the MRC I just make a donation to club funds. 18 1 2
RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted December 8, 2021 We make donations to the RNLI in lieu of wasting money on cards for a celebration I won't get into as religion is banned on sensible forums! Showery (some hail) ans sunny here now, 8 whole c, and still a strong but not gale force wind. Lot of water damage around coastlines, walls over on promenades etc. And some morons wat to build houses on the beach at Ramsey.. Madness. Mrs NHN's office is just out of shot to the left in this photo of Douglas prom and the electric railway car sheds, yesterday. it was a bit scary apparently. 18 4
RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) The trip to Chelmsford went well. Very little traffic. Garage all very efficient. Receptionist asked me to confirm it was petrol due the spark plugs being on the parts list. I said it was. They don’t see many petrol vehicles there. Assuming all goes well with the service and MoT we should be able to return to collect it at 4.30. By then the MoT should be online and a video of the underside of my car will probably have been sent. The loft insulation won’t be coming. B&Q informed me they would need to start again. I suggested that I would prefer to cancel, it seemed easier. I will reorder from Wickes. The local branch seem quite capable of getting stuff onto a van and sending it. RMweb Premium J. S. Bach Posted December 8, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) Speaking of rain, I was sleeping quite well (unusually) when the pitter-patter pounding of rain on the roof woke me up. When I checked the rain gauge, it showed 0.66 inches (16.8 mm); it did sound more like 66 inches. though! Edited December 8, 2021 by J. S. The Lurker
Greetings all from LBG where the wind is cold and exacerbated by the presence of the Shard. The auditors keep chipping away. Their latest attempt to change our numbers was based on a fundamental misunderstanding of some basic UK tax rules which qualified accountants ought to get - so the error of their ways has been pointed out along with pointed comments about the timing. Sorry to hear of Lucy's travails. I hope that she is in the process of properly recovering this time. Mrs Lurker was seeing a friend today , and her new dog. She was looking forward to it as none of the rest of us are dog fans and so she can't have one. Actually i don't think she would anyway because she would not want to leave one at home all day while we are at work. In other news I have started re-reading Lord of the Rings for the first time in a number of years. Tom Bombadil has just left us on the road to Bree. 17 1
