I’m very late on parade sure to doing that most fatal of things this morning, after returning from going to the toilet, I turned the radio of at 7:05 this morning and said to myself, “l’ll just have another 5 minutes” and then got back into bed, I didn’t wake up until almost 10 o’clock! Consequently I’ve been playing catch up ever since. I decided to go to the Trafford Centre straight after breakfast and call at the butchers on the way home and hope they still had some pork pies left. I needn’t have worried, they’d just brought a fresh batch out as I walked through the door, mmmmmm.

 

The afternoon is going to be one of relaxation and reading.

EDF fixit man arrived to fix the new leccy meter - but diagnosed it as Fubar'd; he'd not been told about the Gas Meter also not playing, but said he couldn't do that one cos' of time, paperwork etc.  He didn't have any IHD's on the van either.  So all in all, diddlysquat progress.  A while later I did receive a call from EDF to make yet another appointment (April) for someone else to come and sort the meters - and hopefully present Bear with an IHD at the same time.

 

Bear has been wielding the soldering iron this morning - and worthwhile it was too; no naughty words were uttered either, so that's a tick.  More this afternoon methinks.

Didn't even bother to think about going out today - no need, no point. Fire lit about noon, and living room is toasty warm.  DInner awaits, and a glass of Glen Scotia will also be partaken with the meal (or before).  I hear the air fryer going, so I guess it's sausage and chips today.

Not a lot happening here today. Weather is sunny intervals with scattered showers in weather person speak. Aditi used to use meteorological terms but now is  more likely to say “ooh, the batteries are charging”. 
We are getting a few deliveries today. Some more security cameras from Amazon and Aditi ordered some new trainers that UPS are delivering  (ding ding, bell sounds) have just delivered. They were dispatched from the Netherlands, not that you would have known this when ordering them.

I remember when I was in hospital the second time with my appendix issues, they put a tube through my nose down into the stomach (not a pleasant experience) so they could keep drawing off fluid and aerating it. Before being taken back into hospital I ate some kiwifruit, I don't know whether it was just the effect of kiwifruit but the fluid they were drawing off was the most vivid bright green.

September 2021, some of you may remember I made a small (A5) drawing of a nearby log swing.

 

One of my drawing sessions ended in the glow of an orange sunset. I took a few photos.

 

The log swing, in the foreground, looked as if it had been blown off the ash tree. top right, in a storm in March, last year 

but I had already promised myself, I would go back to the spot again when we had a decent snowfall. That arrived last night. So, off I went, accompanied by Ray. The sun was shining when we set out and came out again on the walk back! So it is a bit overcast.

 

Meanwhile some interesting snow building was going on in a field nearer to home...

 

Now, it is all melting away slowly in the sun and slightly warmer temperature...Ray has gone to retrieve the car from the bottom of the village as we will not need it until the weather has warmed up a bit. That tells me it is time to put kettle on... I just fancy a mugadecaf, myself!

Yesterday the light snow continued pretty much all day, but the failed to accumulate due to prevailing temperatures.

The evening saw me driving in the same mess both to happy-hour/rehearsal and then back again. The return was slightly more fraught since the temperature had dropped and the snow starting to accumulate. Few folks on the road at 10pm and careful/slow driving sufficed.

 

Awoke this morning 4 inches closer to the "top ten" snow accumulations everyone (the idiots that is) is hoping we manage. Given we're supposed to get the "right" amount tomorrow starting early evening, I'm sure some nut-cases will find the opportunity to see it as worthy of celebration. 😒🤯

 

We've a neighborhood happy-hour this evening, and a supper club dinner musical performance on the cards for tomorrow evening.

Jemma will be off on a six-day back and forth to Heathrow tomorrow so we'll have Whitney for a few days starting tomorrow morning.

Nothing else PLANNED, so far...

 

-3c searching for the newspaper in 4 inches of snow first thing <grrr>, zero the expected high. More snow tomorrow.

Did I mention I'm REALLY, REALLY done with snow this winter  !@$!@$!@$$   !$@!@$!@$!!@$   !$@!@$!@$!$@ Add additional expletives as needed.

We've had rain , hail, sleet , snow, 50mph winds, now it's sunny and the wind is reducing.

 

A fair amount of flooring, and the start of the replacement under stairs cupboard was done. Including the two smallest of the three vertical wall sections. The biggest wall will not be put up until the shelves are installed inside. The former sides of the under stairs cupboard and the cladding beneath the stairs Will be recycled as the shelves.

I've decided the three added beams under the stairs are for reinforcement, the side supports the steps actually rest on at the junction of the riser and tread are only 2 inches deep at the thinnest. I suspect they were not taking the strain a long time ago, there are some along the grain cracks.

 

The fun starts tomorrow as the bottom step has a curved end, which will affect two floor planks, then there are the three doorways to do, all of which have shaped mouldings...

 

Right ankle has taken great exception to repeatedly getting down on the floor, followed by a walk to the workshop to cut the next piece.

Not unlike the next visit to the lavatory (for any purpose) after eating beetroot.  Not always as vivid if it was the pickled stuff but red enough to cause concern.  Until you remember .........

This is because the wind is now coming from the NE and not blowing on the exposed end gable of the house.

It's been grey and wet with a cold wind here in Sidcup today. No sign of snow and none forecast - we're south of the line on the map where snow is likely to fall. 

 

Otherwise not too much to report. And not much in prospect over the weekend, although I must say that whatever Mrs Lurker is cooking for tea smells nice from up here!

So, even on walkabout I can check the Hive Controls at home. Good job I did.. it has gone wonky so the house temperature was still rising at 25.1°C.. a visit by youngest Herbert has reset it but he left the boiler off to let things cool down. BG too busy to attend.. why do they never think that in winter they may need to attend more call outs? But they want me to book a service.. PAH !
