Now come on Bear!       You've been complaining for some time that these people "Drop and Run"  and now there's a hint of an improvement you are complaining.      You can't have your cake pizza and eat it too you know!

No, you're alright.   Puppers will stand on the ground and watch Bear have a go.

I find being told the same thing 3 (or more) times extremely tedious generally and particularly as modern documentary makers have taken it to exciting new levels by adding 3 levels of dumbing down  and numerous, puerile animations for those that can't understand the spoken (dumbed down and more than likely inaccurate) word.

As for the media telling us things people are going to say in the future e.g. "The Prime Minister* is going to announce a week next Thursday that it shall become an offence at the end of April to visit a London bar without consuming copious quantities of Heinz Baked Beans " just blxxdyy STOP IT!        By all means,  consider that to be an anti Media rant.

*  Any politicians, other officials from government or industry maybe substituted here.   I wouldn't want to pick on the Prime Minister.   On second thoughts .....

Sad day here today as Junior Puppers has packed her bags and set off on the long drive to almost Distant Signal (West).    We've enjoyed a splendid family week but all good things must come to an end.   Can't wait for the next visit.

Weather Vane painting** has been completed and it has been re-installed on the pergola.     A little bit of touching up will be required but it's just started raining slightly so any excuse to give up for now was gladly taken.      My heart is just not in such tasks these days, I just want to get them done and move on to something that is actually interesting.

**  Very loose use of the term here, ref previous post on new Hammerite paint.

My neighbour has been out for a thrash on his RD this morning.  I did get an invite but as previously stated, far more important things on the cards early this morning than breakfast at the end of a thrash.

Now, what to do after lunch?     Probably sleep!   I was up late last night and of course an hour mysteriously disappeared in the middle of the night so I'm extra tired today.

Same here.
I think documentary production got very expensive and from looking at the end credits many became co productions with various international broadcasters who all wanted input and editorial control, ending up with a general interest product rather than a specialist programme.

One of the things which made the BBC natural history productions so wonderful for many years was the combination of stunning visuals with genuinely informative and interesting commentary delivered with aplomb by David Attenborough. The visuals are still stunning but some of the more recent shows have relied on visuals to a much greater extent and been a bit disappointing on the commentary side.

Bear here…..

A day of nottalott - yesterday’s antics fitting new brakes on the Bearmobile have taken their toll on Bear’s hind paws; a large dose of CBA was the final nail in the Coffin.

I’m now on a mid-wander pitstop; I may well do the killer hill circuit for a second time just for fun (huh?) before a quick dash round T &C and then crawl up the long, long hill on the way back to Bear Towers.

Bear gone…..

Afternoon Awl,

Forecast soggyness arrival 17:00, actual soggyness arrival about 12:00.  So we all got soggy..

forecast windspeed 15 to 24, actual windspeed mostly 25 to 30mph..

Hard work sailing especially due to the changes to BM, now require additional changes.

Poor turn out, 5 keelboats and 5 dinghies,

Race one , course 4p, Xs, 5s, 3s, 2s, 1s 4 laps X is a mark on the course . On the broad 1,2,3,4 form a square at the limits of the broad X was roughly in the middle today and  5 put near 4 but on the way to 1.

Started with the fleet, but not in a favourable position, gradually lost out and was well behind at the finish.  BM isn't pointing well because I've had to raise up the jib, effectively making the jib club shorter, putting way too much belly in the jib. lost my hat during a tack, but  a laser behind me picked it up and returned it to me at the end of racing.

Race 2, much the same as before,

Race 3, made a good start, but it was raining, I was cold wet and not happy, retired back to the club house..

Cheese and onion sandwich and muggacoffee .

Put boat partly away. It's on the clubhouse quay with cover on but sails are just rolled up on the boom, they're wet so there's no point putting them away bagged up in the boat.

Needed something hot, ended up buying a grot noodle, first I've had in many years.. They haven't improved.

Tomorrow is a down river, but I really need to sort the jib, re rig the vang and a few other things..

So tomorrow I'll do that... Then put BM in her proper mooring., If I finish early enough I'll then go home and take swmbo to a nearby art exhibition and earn some brownie points.

Now look Bear don't knock the council for running out of money. It's been an unprecedented year for it in terms of financial pressures. You don't know what it's like with having to find funds for those extra diversity officers and installing the broad band so that all there staff can work from home. Have you ever tried driving one of the councils new all electric dust bin carts plus ripping out all the perfectly good gas boilers so that they can be replaced with ground/air - take your pick, source pumps. I'm sorry it's just to much I'm going to have go to my mental well being, green, save the planet diversity safe place as you have endangered my wellbeing.

Church was fuller than usual this morning, by filling the chalices to the brim we had just enough wine to go round at communion.  Afterwards I stayed for coffee and was able to talk to a friend about her husband who has dementia and is becoming a problem, he has started to wander off if a house door is left unlocked and gets lost.  He was an accountant and a very clever man.  Today he was very confused because the clocks had changed and he couldn't understand what had happened.  When she comes to church a relative now sits with him at home, they used to come together, he was treasurer for many years.

By the time I got home I was tired yet again, it is very annoying to get tired so easily at the moment.

I had a pleasant easy to cook lunch and once again had a nap.  Since I woke I've had a long chat with my 94 year old aunt on the phone and then found a video on You Tube a friend wanted to watch, it is simply some video from 1989 of a drive through town in a car filmed by the front seat passenger.  It is surprising how much it has changed over the years.  I sent him an e mail with the link to it.

Next will be tea then some TV.  I may watch "Mammals" with the commentary by David Attenborough.  Each time I see him on TV I remember Mum telling me about him, she knew him and Richard when they were in their teens.

Went for a walk this morning with a flask and chocolate bar.

Ended up at the garden centre and had coffee and cake.
‘So what’ you may ask, well,  no ultra  processed food consumed.
Well it’s a start I suppose.
Now what else can I do?

Mrs W needed a brandy before going out for our Easter meal at her parents.

So only polite that I had one too, and then a beer.

Back at home because we forgot the gluten free gravy granules.

Empty house and beer in the fridge……

Only got the dreaded flavour haven’t I.

That was all over the national and late night local news last night. There's also footage from inside of everything on the shelves shaking as the blade embedded itself in the wall.

All the headlines talked about how 'lucky' the customer opening the door was. Most convenient stores have glass store fronts. A short distance left or right would have had the sawblade hit a glass wall or door and (presumably) enter the store. No mention of how busy it was or where people were inside.

EDIT:

This is much more comprehensive:

CNN: Watch this man narrowly avoid injury from runaway construction blade

Most stores have a narrow (relatively soft) metal frame between the door and storefront window. This one had a wide wooden pillar where the blade was embedded.
