RMweb Premium polybear Posted May 10 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 10 Oh yes...... Bear's review never appeared on their website though - s'funny that..... BG 7 8

What I didn't see in the story (apart from a reference to Japan's usually extremely high hygiene standards) is that a certain amount of insect parts, rat droppings and other detritus IS legally permitted in processed foodstuffs in many countries. OK the amount permitted IS minuscule and may reflect the difficulty in achieving a 100% rodent, insect and vermin free environment (though the high tech industry manages OK with their "clean room" production facilities). But even so... Not something you'd find in homemade cake (all the cakes produced at Schloss iD are guaranteed to be 100% rodent and insect free) Still, added insect and rodent (ahem) flavour (not to mention all those yummy additives) may explain why PB is so hooked on cheap UPF LDC. 1 1

The poor things had got in the food processing plant and been clobbered by the ventilation fans, the parts dropping onto the food production line and had been included in a few pizzas. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted May 10 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 10 Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. The washing has just finished but I leave it in the machine for a couple of hours as the spin cycle compresses the washing into a solid mass around the drum and requires to stand before it can be removed. I was going to Tess Coes this afternoon but I've still got plenty of food so I'll leave it until tomorrow.

This sort of thing would appear much faster in the early days before search was monetized and internet trawling was also accomplished by daisy-chained links to who knows where. Now search results are much more likely to show you something to purchase - even if not very related to your search. I once saw a reference to that sort of thing - unintentionally (I hasten to say). It was a bit eye-opening about the lengths people will go to. According to a separate news article I read, this sort of thing is a problem that big city hospital emergency rooms / casualty see. Perhaps not on a regular basis but not unheard of either. If I recall correctly the article quoted a hospital in San Francisco. If not done well the subject can bleed out. It is a very dangerous procedure - despite claims that such things are regularly done to livestock. Edited May 10 by Ozexpatriate 1 4

There were two or three that worked at The Great Empire in the 90's (I think) that were into, er, "unusual practices" involving a hammer, a nail, and a certain part of the male anatomy. Once the story broke the Nationals had a field day "Rocket Scientists etc. etc....." and they were shown the door PDQ. Popular Post Ian Abel
POETS, yes, doing that. Yesterday I managed to complete the work day without any additional nasty-gram sending. Seems my initial missive may actually have got my point across 😀 Enjoyable choir rehearsal and pre/post whistle-wetting. Today - my presence has been requested at a meeting to help the IT morons understand the system they're responsible for, that'll be a laugh, I'll POSSIBLY refrain from pointing out the "bleeding obvious", i.e. since they let the last admin for the system go (several years ago it seems, but I was never informed!!) they apparently didn't bother to assign anyone the actual responsibility for its running/upkeep... This evening we attend Neil deGrasse Tyson - This Just In: Latest Discoveries in the Universe - the Mrs got me tickets for Christmas. Love his books and pretty much everything he post/discusses in various interviews and discussion forums. Only WRINKLY is - and who knew when his event was scheduled - the Minnesota Timberwolves play downtown about 1/4 mile away from where we'll be in what is fast becoming on of the largest NBA championship series in a long time. Only saving grace is, our event starts an hour before they play, so with LUCK we'll avoid most of the frenzy at the start and we should be long gone before the game ends! Weekend has a Mothers Day brunch with the family Sunday at an Indian restaurant, arranged by DIL Meagan. Nothing else "planned" so far. 9c and sunny first thing, 21c the expected high, much the same all weekend. Hope you all have a great weekend.
RMweb Gold Popular Post DaveF Posted May 10 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 10 (edited) Today has passed pleasantly, so far. After I had done some odds and ends I went into the garden and removed all the bulbs from the tubs and pots so they are now ready to plant the summer plants - though one or two of the tubs will go, I have a friend with a relative who is looking for some. I also did some weeding until I found I was struggling to stand up after kneeling. I had to lever myself up by hanging onto a rose arch. Then I went to the beach and walked on the Prom and Links. Fortunately I parked in the first space I saw as the bottom end of the car park was full of TV vans as Vera was being filmed there today. They were still getting ready when I walked past. It was warm but humid and misty at times over the sea. I took a few photos, see below. I called at Tesco Extra on the way home and treated myself to some English strawberries, very tasty. I really went to buy a loaf. Since lunch I've been scanning photos once again. I've also started to sort out books and other things to get rid of - some to charities, other items to the tip. It is now a very nice sunny late afternoon and have just been outside to water the plants in the greenhouse. This evening will more more scanning unless I get very bored and find something to watch. Battery gun. It is a dummy. Low tide beach with old WW2 anti tank blocks partly exposed. TV vans in the car park The battery with two TV people discussing something. RMweb Premium Popular Post Gwiwer Posted May 10 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 10 (edited) Hello I’ve been below the big chimney watching our coast again Lots of yachtspersons not all of whom were abiding by the rules. Lots of visitors to the watch too - from hikers to thunder-bugs. And a party of around 30 younger folk from the West Midlands totally unfamiliar with the sea and safety thereabouts. And who chose to dive into rock-infested shallows from a private slipway. Eejits. The Coastguard was alerted. An incident was created. And a person in a dark blue Land Rover with a blue flashing light on top duly appeared and ordered them on their way. In what I later learned were “Strong Cornish terms”. It’s now beer o’clock. And it’s Indian grub night at the café. Yesssss. Welcome to the weekend Edited May 10 by Gwiwer

RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted May 10 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 10 The OF's ride out went to 'Land's End', aka The Sound, where the breakfast was OK but a little pricey. We hit two closed roads due to the rally, so had to make some 'interesting' detours, on very bumpy back roads. I've only seen two snakes in the UK, once saw an adder in Ingram Valley, when I was a teenager - not too far from Dave F's perambulations, and a slow worm (OK not really a snake), on the far platform at Haverthwaite on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite railway. Saw loads of yellow sea snakes in the far east when at sea, horrible things. 15

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted May 10 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 10 (edited) Evening Awl, Today at the museum began with crawling about on the floor, I must say the new carpet is nice and soft on the knees. What was I doing down there? Laying out sailcloth, marking , then cutting it, then overlaying the cut off piece, at the top, marking and cutting that. This is the new jib for Blue Moon, that is a triangle with a 90 degree turn at its rear bottom corner. What's needed is 60 inches across the bottom, 164 inches on the vertical, and 176 inches on the leading sloping edge. I've added a couple of inches in all directions for seaming and minor corrections. The difficultly was I broke the tape measure, I pulled it out to it's full length, it went twang, the spring shot inside and i was left with the measuring bit flopping around. Repairing several more switches, have been shown another type that needs repair. These are 50+ year old round tubes, but the plastic is cracking up. I've measured the space and think I can line the original with a 10 mm O/D plastruct type tube. Some has been ordered to try. After that I started cleaning and polishing the box for the ultra sonic radar device.. And dropped it... Several joints broke apart, so all the joints had to be cleaned up and re glued. Drilled the four holes to screw it to the board . Just been to the house of strong ladies to order some very short self tappers with a wide pan head. Then to the 1/1000 model of Neatishead, the if "all else fails" radio aerial was fitted today, this is the highest point on the diorama except for the comms dish. It involved a 1 inch long piece of wire sticking up, and the cotton thread guy ropes being super glued in place. Next week the comms dishes, and preparations for fitting perspex protection and legs to the layout. Also put a RAF flag on the pole, that is, a little over size piece of RAF blue paper folded round a pin . A red splodge filling the top right corner. Then the pin and the paper where it's round the pin were painted white. Only 19 visitors today of which I saw 7, so most of the day was spent muddling, hence i have a very stiff back having been hunched up over a table all day. After that the MRC, where 1mm stainless wire was bent into various shapes to imitate a 6 inch fuel pipe line. Several more need doing, but they are just short lengths. Muggachoccy gone goodnight Awl. It’s been a long day and the car is tucked away in a tight spot. If I got it out I wouldn’t try getting back in after dark so it would have to go in the car park. Not that it’s far to walk but hey.
