I apologise for my spelling mistake.

I didn't go to Aldi to be truncated.

The truth is I often hit two keys at the same time but generally sort it out before hitting the 'post' button.

Fortunately no Jews were injured this time.

1. Can she cut firewood?

2. Can she mix concrete and clean the mixer afterwards?

3. Does she actually communicate with the household after coming in of an evening?

4. Is she a Norwich fan?

5. How's her woodworking skills?

6. What does she eat?

The right combination of answers obtains permission to enter, the wrong combination could result in permanent expulsion from the Thames Valley (and in this misty weather that might be no bad thing).

Very good with mortar and excellent and cleaning and tidying. around the house as well as tools of the trade

When she come home it is hard to stop her talking. She even talks in her sleep!

Very good at cutting 1:12 scale sleepers on the circular saw without losing any digits

Anything with peas: especially peas, mayonaisse stuffed into a pita bread.

Soldering and building volcanoes and any form of fire related activity.............arson excepted

Also good at painting and decorating and varnishing window frames from a ladder.

Acceptable - might not be safe to let her near my son though (mind you if she isn't into Norwich City it will probably be completely safe!)

I had to Google Maytag cheese. I'm rather ignorant about American cheeses. I think the only choices offered during our trip to the US were American, Swiss or Jack. Matthew did comment that there didn't seem to be much cheese choice in Calgary. Though he did say he had only been to Walmart, Safeway and Asian supermarkets so far. I'm sure there will be other cheese shops somewhere.

Springbank cheese shop. 14st @ 20ave NW.

Kids are weird. At age 8 (already one handed) I went to a toy shop to buy a wind-up speed boat that had been displayed in the window. Tool late. It had been sold. So I came away with a bow and arrow set.

I never did shoot an arrow with it but my friends had fun.

I did have a chrome plated six shooter. The revolver actually revolved with each shot (caps).

I killed most of my friends and pets with that. In fact anything that moved. A roll of caps was not limited to six.

"Oh, for the gift of foresight! I think you meant "fore-skin'' (the hyphen inserted as censor didn't like it)

Weather today - Partly cloudy. 1mm rain possible but currently more blue sky than cloud.

It's taken me 45 minutes to catch up on posts posted after I last read them yesterday pm.

Morning troops...

According to the weather app, we're supposed to have -1.5°C outside, but I prefer not to check for myself just yet and to have some coffee instead. Part 1 of MiL's birthday do has been completed, and Part 2 tonight will see even more guests arriving. I'm glad to see everyone appears to be in good spirit thus far.

However, we may well do some shopping in the city this afternoon as SWMBO wanted to look for something or other. Why can't there be as many model shops as there are clothes shops? :sarcastic:

Good morning, one and all!

Enjoyed a concert from the Budapest Cafe Orchestra last night (they're from Hackney!) Lots of Eastern European and Russian style music delivered with humour. Good musicians and a great night out, enhanced by a glass or three!

Update on injected thumb: no pain but not much flexibity yet. I'm sure it's only a matter if time.

Enjoy whatever you are up to this weekend!

I have nothing to say but that's OK, Good Morning! etc.

Actually my Wife is under the weather (which is unusual) with a nasty neck pain.......

My SUV has over 400lbs weight of dried food in for delivery to "Sandy" relief centres in the morning along the Shore.

So I suppose I did have something to say after all....

Best, Pete.

Morning all

Grey and wet this morning. Just as well as there is a pile of unmarked exam papers sitting on my desk at the moment - alongside a couple of unbuilt Sturgeon kits. Decisions, decisions. Sadly, I know which one has to win.

Ashers, the business studies teacher at our place used to teach typing when it was a subject in its own right and ended up with trigger thumbs. She blamed the space bar.

Good Saturday Morning All,

Dull and dismal here, rain promised & a mild 11oC . Mind you they promised sun yesterday so who knows what will happen.(certainly not the forecasters)

Have taken tea to my beloved so that will be 1 Brownie point. I'm racking my brains at the moment to try & think of something different to buy her for Christmas. As we've been together 47 years & married for 42 of them this is rather difficult. It's made harder by the fact that she never wants anything for herself (apart from a couple of books) yet spends all year looking for & buying presents for everyone else. The upside of this is that we now don't need to join the throngs in the shops for the next few weeks.

Sounds like Pete is another nominee for an ER good neighbour award.

All the best

Grey and cloudy after a damp night.

Wife and daughter off to the shopping extraveganza that is 'Cheshire Oaks'.

My credit card is getting quite excited by the thought of a spending spree.

The bank account is already starting to wimper.

Ashers: Your thumb ought to get a bit more flexible soon.

talking of stiff joints made me recall a friend who had been prescribed viagra.

The first time he took the tablet, he took it with insufficient water, and it got (temporarily) stuck in his throat.

He woke up the next morning with a stiff neck!

Regards

I'm just a small cog in the wheel, Bob. There will probably be 1,000 vehicles full like mine setting out to distribution centres in New Jersey with similar quantities of food from their own communities.

Interesting little factoid: One of the guys who turned up with a trunk load of food was Sean Quinn one of the late Anthony Quinn's 12 children. I had no idea until my wife told me much later. Anthony Quinn himself was actually born in Chihuahua, Mexico - not Greece...

Best, Pete.

That's interesting. I think mine might have been caused by playing the piano and texting (not at the same time!)

Not very romantic, I know, but my good lady and I stopped buying each other Xmas presents years ago. Completely removes all the stress and strain that you refer to Bob. I suspect most of it is down to the fact we both dislike shopping.

A woman that dislikes shopping? I know, I feel like a lottery winner.... B)

The big one today. Spurs v Arsenal, so lunchtime will be supping beer and watching the game. Jeez, I sound like a real slob....

You're a star, Pete...

"Cowboys & Indians" brings back 1 memory from about 60 years ago. We lived in a pub in Bedford and my friend & I "borrowed" some darts from the bar to use as spears. A little later one screaming child (me) went running to Mum with a dart sticking out of my forehead just above & between my eyes. I was very lucky not to have been blinded that day & have been very careful with my eyes ever since although that hasn't stopped further mishaps! :blackeye:

A school friend of mine lost an eye at a young age from bows and arrows. It didn't hold him back as he now makes violins.

Tesco run done, SWMBO fetched from work, and the day is all mine...

Apart from making lunch, looking after sick child, a trip to the chemist and a trip to Tesco to fetch what I forgot earlier...

Weather : patchy cloud, dry, cool.

Have fun.
