With man-flu still trying to kill me, i figured i'd have a tinker.

Firstly, what's the point in having a NorfolkLine box if it don't pose on a NorfolkLine lorry!

I really am chuffed with how well this has come out.

Being stuck at home, i thought open some glue and stick some s-kits bits on some old Hornby wagons. I need to get some washers to make spacers before going any further with these, but while they were out it was rude not to pose boxes! so here it is taking it's place in a 'Maersk' train.

Back to the early 90s! Freightliner, Nedlloyd, and Cast are home made, Bell are c-rail. All of them (Including NL above) apart from Nedlloyd have been adapted to work with the Heljan Crane.

Ages and ages ago i think i mentioned a couple of tank-tainers had been converted to work with the cranes, but we kept forgetting to bring them. The evening in the middle of Train-west we quickly converted one of the layouts 'Trifleet' tanks so there could be at least one ready for the second day, seen here the company of the 20ft ###### Fang.

The 2 originally converted are both Hornby 'Hoyer' branded tanks. Because the bolts used to attract the magnets in the crane head are almost the same colour as the tank, very little needs doing to these, just a little light weathering. hopefully this pair aren't forgotten again when the layout re-appears in September.

And a couple more of the works in progress.

There's 4 bright red 30ft boxes in the works. All c-rail decals. 1 side partly done on each so far, no dull coat yet (I think that would be certain to make me ill at the moment) so still a bit shiny!

And another very modern high-cube. work in progress Fang (seriously, stop censoring the word !)

Home made decals done, just need all the little numbers and details now.

Enjoy.

A quick question re the graphics on containers, model and prototype, if you'll indulge me Gents.

Do the graphics have to take the vertical corrugated surface into account with regards the horizontal length?

And if so, do you have to use "true length" graphics on flat sided containers such as reefers?

It's just I imagine the difference in perception of and actual length must be quite considerable, especially on the 45 footers.

Hope you know what I'm getting at! C6T.

I know exactly what you're on about cause i wondered that when i started drawing some up....and to make it easier i decided to completely ignore it and see what happened!

Turns out it has very little effect especially when using micro set/sol to soften and apply the transfers. As an example, the Norfolk Line transfer is an entire blue side the same length as a 40ft box, when applied the ribs on the container (a c-rail 40ft high-cube) only reduced the entire length by less than 5mm. So on a small transfer it makes no difference at all.

Nothing wrong with 'sheds' matt they haul all of the boxes around the uk today

It does make the ocassional oddity on intermodals all that more exciting. Although that means i'm refering to a 70 as 'exciting' which just makes me feel soiled and dirty :-(

Lovely 47, I love a shed (lost all trainspotting credibility!)

There's a fair bit of variety in them (66/0s definently and 66/5s)

There's differences?! Differences in sheds to me are their size and whether you've built them from wood or metal. My next one's going to be 8x6 and made from wood, fully insulated (to be tested over this coming winter) and then give me somehwere to build a tropical pond again! but that's O/T.

Well if your a good boy matt I may just bring it along to shenfield :-D

I'll be a good boy! i promise i will! i'll try not to say anymore bad things about sheds..... (please note the 'try'.)
