andytrains
I will be there as the line up looks excellent. It will be worth it to see Prospect Wharf alone. (LMS shunting at its best). Layouts attending are:- Aldbury S4 Bodmin S4 Calvercar Town 7mm Grove Ferry Junction S Scale Manston Airport OO Peel Road EM Portchullin S4 Prospect Wharf EM Rivendell O-16.5 South Sheppey EM Swansea Riverside 7mm Three Mills 3mm Trewithick EM Whatlington 3mm
HerbertHopkins
I will be there as the line up looks excellent. It certainly does. East Ham MRC which, AFAIK, is a fairly small club are to be commended for putting on a show of such quality. I will definitely be attending and hope that the show is successful. andytrains
East Ham MRC is a medium sized club. This is from the website:- The club was formed in 1960 by a small group of modellers, and was originally known as the East Ham and District Model Railway Society. After moving to Barking in 1970 the name was changed to the Barking and District Model Railway Society. In May 2008 they moved their clubroom back to the club's original roots - East Ham. Following the move they also changed their name to East Ham and District Model Railway Club, to reflect the return to East Ham. paulr1949
A good show with some nice layouts, a couple of which were marred by some poor operating and derailments. For such a good lineup there did not seem to be enormous numbers of people there, although given that it's a new venue perhaps not surprising. It's a nice area for a show too, although they appeared to have had a few issues with the venue as they were using the mezzanine rather than outside area as shown on the plan. Nothing to detract from my enjoyment though. I particularly like Bodmin in P4, Aldbury and Trewithick, and it was nice to see some SR EMUs on South Sheppey. Portchullin (of this parish) was also there, with it's lovely scenery. Managed to spend a bit of money too but not mega amounts. Easy to get to by car or public transport (latter Saturday only I think, although I did hear someone say something about a bus service on the Sunday. HerbertHopkins
Just got back from this show and was very impressed with the layouts and trade support. If you're in the London/Essex area and have a couple of hours to spare tomorrow I can heartily recommend a visit. One of the club members was telling me that they are running a vintage bus service from Dagenham Heathway station tomorrow as well.

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted November 6, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 6, 2010 I visited the show today, came away with a few bits and an excellent book from Bob Pearman, trouble is it cost not far short of £30! Oh well, bangers and mash for Christmas dinner (again).
RMweb Premium Chris116 Posted November 7, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 7, 2010 Based on what I had seen here last night I visited the show today and have to say that it was well worth the effort. Some very nice layouts with operators who would talk to you if you had a question. The refreshments were basic but good quality and very reasonably priced and the vintage bus ride was worth the admission without the exhibition. I was just sorry the hall had so few paying customers and hope the organisers can afford to put on a similar show next year. Chris EDIT:- I travelled from Southfields on the other end of the District line to Daganham Heathway and then got the vintage bus. Well worth the time, effort and cash. andytrains
What an excellent show. Fantastic Layouts and good traders. I was surprised that there were not more persons there for such a good quality show. The venue was excellent with good road and public transport access. (I heard somebody moaning that their Sat Nav took them to Tescos instead of CEME. What you have to remember is that sometimes several premises have the same postcode. Use a map and it will work a lot better. Gets the brain working too!).
RMweb Premium Ian J. Posted November 8, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 8, 2010 Despite living local to the area I couldn't make it this year due to money worries (even a fiver is a problem right now ). One of the problems the show has is that the population of its local catchment area is predominantly not interested in model railways - be it because of ethnic cultural differences or the somewhat large amount of 'chavs' who wouldn't normally have any interest whatsoever. For it to be more successful it's going to take more visitors coming in from other parts of London or from outside the capital. Is it worth it to travel that much farther? Based on last year's exhibition I'd say yes, and it seems to be true of this year's too.

Definitely worth it - I travelled from Orpington (I came by public transport), and 2 friends from my local club were also there. I hope it will be on again next year
RMweb Premium Crepello Posted November 8, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 8, 2010 A great show, even better than last year's. CEME is an excellent venue and easily accessed by 174 bus from Dagenham Heathway Station on the District Line (every 10 minutes on Saturdays). OK so there weren't any N or 2mm layouts but the standard of modelling was high and it put many other local exhibitions to shame. I just hope that all these positive comments don't make it too popular for next year!
HerbertHopkins
I just hope that all these positive comments don't make it too popular for next year! Sorry, I don't really understand this. I hope that this show does go ahead next year and goes on to become firmly established on the exhibition calander, The more successful the better I say! PaulG
Can I just add my compliments on a very enjoyable show. It was an excellent venue with easy access off the A13, good car park, most of the hall was carpeted, which was very comfortable under foot and all the layouts were of a very good quality. Why were there so few people there? The plus points as a visitor, were that you could get close to the layouts and talk to the layout operators, as most of the time you were the only person viewing the layout! There was no queuing for refreshments, toilets etc or to be served by the very good selecting of traders. I just hope the exhibition covered its costs and will be back in the same venue next year.
