Looking very nice indeed. A purchase to be proud of.

I always find having a list of things to do help me out. It can look daunting at times but taking it step by step often helps.

Looking forward to more updates.

Hi everyone

Update on the layout,

It is currently in pieces in the workshop belonging to WhiteRose model works who make baseboards. The work being carried out is a rewire (the photo shows the amount of work to be done its a bit like spaghetti junction) and a new frame on as the timber used is to soft and small to hold up for transportation.

I have added some pics showing the wiring before we start and showing the stripping of the frame and the reframing of the bigger board. It has become a big task and Dave at Whiterose and myselfplan to do the smaller board tomorrow night

Nik

Ps let me know what you think.

Hi All

i recently purchased this part built layout with the aim to finish it off and to add to it to make an exhibition layout. The layout is approx 8 foot long and has code 100 peco track with electro frog points.

The layout is DCC and is fully lit and I will show this when I rig up a transformer.

I have added some pictures to give a flavour with afew of my locos on to add atmosphere.

Let me know what you think?

Nik

Thanks for the feedback, I may do something with the back scene have'nt decided yet and I agree with you on the 08 I will replace this with more disused track etc.. at some point

Nik

could put in some derelict track or even lifted track leading up to an 08 that's so decrepid that it's starting to fall to bits where it stands?

Good Evening All

Well there has been a large gap since the last post mainly as I have been busy with work and my main layout. But the enthusiasm is back and work has started on the layout again. There's a few things to report as follows:-

1. I have replaced a point that was damaged when I tried to motorise it and some super glue seeped into the mechanism

2. All the points are still done by wire ina tube but are now moterised as per the pictures below.

3. Seep motors have been used to use the switch to change polarity on the points

4. I have removed the point under the bridge to change the formation to allow further rtunning potential (as per picture)

5. I am also thinking of addind a fuel stage in the depot by removing a pre weathered knightwing kit from its base and glueing it to the depot concrete base

6. I have removed the 08 body and I have had a mobile telephone mast built to position in the space.

The layout has been gathering dust and has shown some wear and tear due to transportation but I think now i'm putting some TLC onto it I can take it forward.

Finally I am contemplating adding an extra board to the layout to add a run down marshalling yard attached to the depot end of the board.

The next tasks are to test the point motors out and to re do the lighting wiring. ALso the depot roof needs replacing.

Cheers for reading

Nik

Shame - this had a good look about it especially the banks and bridge set in the corner  -  with a tidy up and some additions it had the making of a good project - good to see it was quite wide giving good depth - something I hope to represent sometime.

Cheers

Ian

Well the bug has bit back and here is the latest project which I will exhibit.  I purchased an unfinished DC OO gauge layout.  It is based on a loco shed and a few sidings one running into a warehouse. The area will be modelled as a head shunt area for trains to be prepped for loco changes and for storage sidings from the main line and station (off layout)   It will be DCC diesel and electric with sound, hopefully modelled so different eras can be run. It is a good solid layout but needs a lot of work doing (sucker for punishment)  some of the jobs include:-

1. Wire for DCC

2. Build new fiddle yard

3. finish scenery

4 repair overhead wires and finish off where needed

5. new back scenes

6. new warehouse buildings

7. more lights

8. detail and weather the loco area

9. point motors to be added and run through DCC for the first time

10. lighting rig

11. name the layout

12 remove legs and put on trestles

I have started some work and I will post the pictures later, but for now here is the layout in its current guise

Cheers

Nik

Evening all

Weekend update: - I have finally rewired all three scenic boards for DCC and sorted the wiring for the existing lights.  The layout has been through a test session and all is good.  The next few weeks will see point motors installed and wired up and if I have time the backscenes removed to improve them and set a new height.  Oh finally I am fitting dowels and catches/latches for easy setting up and pulling down of the boards
