Hornby 7000 britannia new loco?

i know that some time ago Hornby released a britannia class loco as 7000 britania, but in this months new steam railway magazine there is, what appears to be, a catalouge picture of a Hornby brit as 7000 with a white roof for the queens royal train this year. i havnt seenit announced in the 2012 thread so will it just be a standard catalouge release??

cheers, dan

It's wrong though as the latest Steam Railway magazine reports that 70000 will carry the early BR crest once the repaint intoo green is completed. The new Hornby model carries the late crest.

Regards,

Dan

They have changed crests on models before prior to release so perhaps this one will now the actual condition of the loco is known.

The real 70000 carried a white roof in the late '70s while running on the Severn Valley Railway - probably on its first return to steam in preservation. IIRC it also had an early crest.

It is part of the Diamond Jubilee Train Pack R3017 - Loco and 3 royal train coaches. Could it be a clue as to what will hpapen later this year? The model does carry modern live wire flashes.

Try R3094 as R3017 is BR 4-6-0 ‘Sir Herbert Walker K.C.B’ Patriot Class ;-)May get this not sure yet.

Cheers

James

Hi guys

I was thinking about buying one of the Jubilee Britannia train packs but before I jump would like to know if Britannia did (or is yet to) pull a Royal Train this year in this livery?

From some on-line photos I was just looking at I can see she's now running without the white roof so any help you can provide on whether she did or whether she didn't would be appreciated!

Thanks

Martin

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Think I'll have to get one now!

Chris

Re the cream/crimson support coach, do you know if that is Britannia's own? And if so, what's the closest RTR coach I could acquire to copy that?

Thanks

Martin

I believe that it is a BSK. I don't know who owns the carriage but it seems to be with Britannia on all the mainline photos I've seen of it in the last few years.

And the Bachmann model in Crimson/Cream comes with BR1 bogies whereas the Britannia support coach has Commonwealth bogies (available as spares from Bachmann and easily swapped over)

Great stuff.  I assumed it was a current train pack, then I rewound and wondered how far ahead of the jubilee it was released, then I thought again - had it been de-specked?

These are starting to drop to sensible prices, just wondering what the market appetite for the MkIII coaches would be on re-sale.  My appetite for Brits startles even me.
