EBay madness

Madness?

Yes.

I fell for it.

But a kit I have been after for years!

Sorry.

It is a nice loco...I can't say I blame you!

Is that some Riverossi bits in the box, wheel and coupling/ connecting rods?

Probably the worst example from the Mary Shelley school of Railway Modelling seen so far!!

  • A Britannia loco body
  • A King Arthur tender
  • Peppercorn A1 smoke deflectors
  • Streamlined Bulleid Pacific Golden Arrow badge
  • 2 Swindon chimney tops

And a partridge in a pear tree!!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-00-GAUGE-BRITAINNIA-CLASS-70014-MODIFIED-LOCOMOTIVE-RENAMED-TORNADO/231598139234?_trksid=p5411.c100167.m2940&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140131123730%26meid%3Db2caa3b837264c7ca76da3e1b9dfbcdb%26pid%3D100167%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D9%26sd%3D261930006859

Surely the kindest thing to do would be to just push it into a turntable pit and to then fill it in

That said I don't know how it would move under its own power as there is nothing connecting the cylinders to the driving wheels!!

Possibly worth it for the bits (just)?

The bits look like they're from something German (Trix Express* Class 80?), rather than Rivarossi, and somewhat heavy for a J88.

* Judging by the generous wheel flange.

I'll let you know about those parts when it arrives.

As for the J88, as I said, I have been after one for years.

Dart Castings/MJT, who now have the Falcon Brass range are reviewing the kits but the J88 in their range is not currently available.

Anyone want to buy a 7mm Coopercraft wagon kit without wheels for more than the current improved Slaters version with wheels?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/O-Gauge-model-railway-kit-GW-seven-plank-open-wagon-/121685479664?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c550510f0

If it sells, maybe I should sell the one I've just bought for £4 plus £4 postage, rather than building it!

Did LMS loco drivers control their loco by telepathy, while other companies drivers needed knobs, levers and gauges to do it?

I thought a working plaster was something you applied after stabbing yourself with a scalpel....  :jester:

Just done that! :(  - pushing two pins through a bogie (or truck if you prefer) to convert an Athearn Reefer (yet another one!) to 3 point suspension (to cure the 'wobbles' that these suffer from).

Finescale my ****!

...oh and "it's only ever been on display". I must confess that I've never heard of a working plaster model.

Another house clearance chancer.

Its an Atlas editions display model. 1:100 scale (ish) made of plastic, detail is not outstanding but fair. similar to the current GBL display models (cept smaller) - sold 4 recently for all of £3.50. think they cost me me in bubble wrap to send

Iwas watching them as I have a couple of incomplete/damaged ones. When the bids started going up, I wondered just what the bidders thought they could do with them?

I wonder why the seller bothered to split - although the results suggest that it was indeed a wise move.

Maybe the bidders have similar damaged models like you. Some of the leftover parts like cabsides are never going to be available separately.

On the other hand, some of the bidders might have been driving up the bid just for fun, guessing - correctly in these cases - that they wouldn't get stuck with the leftovers.

'...Railway Modeller July 2007 - 'brand new'...'

Now it may be that I'm stating the bleedin' obvious - but how can that description actually be true?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Railway-Modeller-July-2007-Brand-New-/400244186146?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d30699c22

It could be considered as such, if it were wrapped in the original plastic?
