And from the same seller this mint condition Lima Warship for *cough* £38.99 - I hadn't appreciated that when they were mint they had one wheelset different from t'others

Bit dubious about its authenticity. It's lettered GWR, but the axleboxes say BR. Or is it ex Barry Railway?

Verry Interesting....;)

The couplings look like replacements as well...

Obviously the base model is the Hornby 4-wheel coach, though these are usually found on LWB Brake Van chassis (possibly someone salvaged the BV chassis and subsituted a Cattle wagon (etc...) chassis.

(A shame that Hornby don't use this type of chassis for the Railroad LWB open wagons....it would help a little! ;) )

I think the best bit of the listing is the user-name!

Really affordable this one! ;)

(A bit like "affordable" housing? ;) )

I would be distressed too, if I'd been tarred and feathered!

The seller has a lot of other overpriced junk, including this little 'treasure'.

In the unlikely event anyone wants one, it's available direct from Atlas Editions for £1.99!

That's an aspirational price when you consider you can pick up a brand new Hornby Railroad (I.e. ex-Lima tooling) warship for only £12 more.

Could be. I purchased a Bachmann Class 45 some years ago and put it in the cupboard unopened. A few years later, I took it out and spotted that I had an oddball wheel on it, a slightly smaller diameter!

Kernow models have the maroon(ish) version for £34.99 .bought my one new for £8 along with a blue western for the same price, mind you was a few years ago :-)

O gauge Hornby carriage?? Spares or repair,or maybe a decent burial.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-carriage-/231658211079?hash=item35efe7c707

Apart from the fact that it is was 00 and not 0 gauge (Dublo - it's in the name!), these are only worth about £1 or so in good condition (and £5 for postage is ridiculous - small packet £2.60). I suppose one might be able to salvage the coupling and wheels, but.........

It reminds me of the "scraped" "scrapped" models...... ;)

There has been a "rake" of Tri-ang Based Class 31s lately! ;)

This seller must have a production line!

Not too bad for once, but I'll ask again "Why?" Still someone thinks it's worth a tenner.

Were any even temporarily dumped on a siding in this livery? They'd have been almost new.

its just as well this section has been granted approval from up top.  i couldnt imagine such whining about what joe bloggs is selling on ebay being tolerated on the other sections.

not sure if the intention is purely philanthropic ie; to forewarn other fellow members of total obscene rip offs (that everyone can choose to avoid if they so wish) or whether its for the craic of taking adverts apart based on asking price description or photo etc........just on observation, it certainly seems to rattle a few cages though judging by the comments.

I think most people just do if for comedy value when coming across the sublime & rediculous. I dont think there is anything to read into it, fair play to the sellers if they can get money for them :-)

Reading threads like this proved very useful when I made my first forays in to the world of ebay bidding. It certainly taught me to ignore any descriptions ending in "mz" by default.

This one made we look twice

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=361372922647&globalID=EBAY-GB

Bachmann class 58? They've never made one, but the underside of the chassis in the photos suggests differently.

Hold on a minute aren't those coupling rods? Photo of a Bachmann 08 thrown in!

Odd.

Fairly restrained weathering though, compared what usually appears here.

You are still in time - it's been relisted!

Possibly, but I'd have thought it would have been a straight in-out procedure.
