The metal one is indeed the three rail version, with a 'bulge' to clear the centre rail. A prime example was the Heljan Metropolitan Bo-Bo. They disposed of that particular model for £35 each. They were sold out within an hour and surprise, surprise they appeared on e-bay a day or two later at 3 to 4 times that price.
