Forensic Modelling.

The examination and identification of the possible origins of model railways items and parts.

In the February 2021 Hornby Magazine, a building being used as the signing on office of a locomotive depot is described as unidentified. Fence Houses...

It is, in fact, a modified Ratio “Castle Cary” Station Building kit.

No canopy, the roadside “extension “ seems to have been left off.

Only one chimney used.

A new slate roof. (In place of the “Felt” roof supplied...)

Identified in seconds....

Possibly because I have built the kit, also modified.

I built that same station for my never to be finished loft layout in about 1997! I'm liking the grimy chimneys.

I suffer from automotive anoraksia, so have to say that the taxi is an Austin A40 Devon from about 1950. I think it's one of the range that used to be made by Pocketbond Classix.

Maroon van Fordson E83W. Red van Austin J type. Can't see enough of yellow van. Lorry is a Foden "Mickey mouse". Then there's a couple of steam engines lettered up for "No Chap's Bothered" or something similar...

Better find some more overpriced junk on eBay....

The manufacturer being immediately identifiable by the models mis-proportioned pudginess and shocking glazing.

I believe they also hold the award for the worst moggie thou ever made?

Proportionally not that bad, though the panel lines are rather heavy, making the doors look too thick. I have to agree on the glazing, but again, down to the thickness of the casting. Though to be fair, the market isn't exactly spoilt for models of everyday cars of the 1935-55 period so the loss of Pocketbond is not a good thing.

If you really want out of proportion road vehicles that always give away the fact that what you are seeing is a model, N gauge wins every time.

Pobably, but most likely something else starting with 'C'!!

Conceptual art?

The Wolf English Dictionary defines it  as:

Usually deeply pretentious, produced hurriedly with minimal skills or effort, but with a back story so deeply convoluted (as convoluted as certain alleged Bachmann products ) that art critics are forced to laud it as great art. To do otherwise might unravel their lofty position as professional bull5hi77ers.

(See also historic children's fable The King's New Clothes.)

I hope that clears up the matter...
