RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted September 11, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 11, 2020 I mentioned seeing a weasel a few weeks ago, but it's only today that we found out that one of our cameras had picked her up much earlier in the year. For some reason we'd missed this while checking the pictures.
sb67
Paid a visit to the RSPB park at Rainham Marshes at the weekend. Had a good afternoon topped off by finding one of these beauties! 6
RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted September 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 22, 2020 Had a tip-off that otters have returned to the wetlands near us so I've been up most mornings bright and early with my camera ... but no luck so far. I have seen them in the past but only twice in ten years. Hopefully persistence will pay off. In the meantime at least I get some landscape photography done.

RMweb Premium Kris Posted October 10, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 10, 2020 Stoat in the garden about an hour ago. It was chasing a rabbit. Went on for about 5 minutes before the rabbit appeared to get away.

They often sit at the back of the house in the sun, this one was sat there for almost 5 minutes, got 2 dozen shots lol, need to give the windows another clean. 2

RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted October 10, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 10, 2020 This is the only amphibian we've had in the last couple of months (although I must go back and check the pond again):
Popular Post bimble
We had a new (or at least first time we'd seen one) visitor to the garden this weekend... sat overlooking the pond, not 3m from the kitchen window! 18

RMweb Premium figworthy Posted October 12, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 12, 2020 No picture, but this struck me as being a bit odd. Looking out of the window yesterday, I saw a Blue Tit on the outside of a nest box, much the same as you'd see in the spring. Adrian
RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted October 12, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 12, 2020 It's around the time when some birds will return to boxes to roost. We had a great tit resident in one of our boxes right through the latter part of last year (and the year before) all the way through to spring and nesting time. In fact I've been checking the box this week to see if she's in. 1

RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted October 13, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 13, 2020 I think I just missed one too. I was wheeling my bike into the conservatory after another fruitless attempt to spot otters*, when there was an explosion of wing sounds and frantic cheeping behind me. Usually that's a sign that a sparrowhawk has come through. * a couple of days ago I missed a sighting by five minutes. I was on my jogging route when I spotted a couple of women on a bridge over the Cynon looking at something in the water. One of them showed me a clip they'd got on their phone, a lovely sighting of an otter. I've been back to the same spot several times since but not seen it yet.
RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted October 23, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 23, 2020 Roosting blue tit. She wasn't in the box a few days ago but today we noticed it had been "cleaned" so left the monitor on. Last year a great tit moved in on the 14th November,
