RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted September 21, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2016 Indeed. I was surprised by that, but didn't dare ask the question. If I remember correctly, the levers are LNW, the frame is GWR...... It is a Crewe frame but it was completely relocked by the WR c1960 - I believe with 5 bar VT locking - hence the standard Reading design of lever leads. I don't know what idiot painted the lever handles but they used to be bare metal - as for what she is doing with that lever I shudder to think but if she is trying to pull it it would have helped to first get hold of it properly and keep her mucky feet off the frame.

Bit harsh, considering it's the first time she's been in a box, and the signaller didn't put her right. Anyhoo, the frame is a bit difficult to capture.

Alistair Yes, she's a Team Organiser, therefore office based. NR are trying to get the office wallahs out to meet the people who deliver the goods which should be no bad thing. It is no surprise that us office wallahs have pristine PPE.

Judge Dread
Trainspotting banned at Tamworth. http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/lms/lnwr_tam3643.htm This was the case at many stations in the late 50's. I can remember being escorted off Doncaster station several times. The drill was to walk down to St James's bridge to the south of the station. There was there the racecourse station which was not in regular use. The steps down to this station were packed with the likes of me. This trek would be done anyway, it being enroute to the Doncaster Plant. There was a "10 ft or ginall" you went down and at the far end a lamp post, which could be climbed to allow you to view over the wall, locos standing outside of the paint shop.

I did a lot of spotting on CJ in the late 60s and early 70s and don't recall such a sign...
bike2steam
I did a lot of spotting on CJ in the late 60s and early 70s and don't recall such a sign... You were lucky then, a couple of times in about 1963 I got slung off, once even told just as I stepped off the train. Only a few weeks ago I saw a pic of that said sign on a railway fb page. edit - add;- A bit of irony, a friend of mine was offered that particular loco when it was withdrawn - but couldn't raise the £2,000, such is life. "I didn't get where I am today by being spotted on by talisman56 in the 60s and 70s". "No, CJ". …err, sorry, this may be the wrong thread...
