RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted January 1, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 1, 2017 We've got a driver who's a bit lazy called HMS Tiredness. I know a bloke who was a loco fitter for the NCB at Nantgarw, called Tommy Horizontal. He was famous there for doing a job on one of the Austerities which was raising steam at the time, leaving it in full reverse gear, and getting his head down in a warm cabin, to be woken by the unmistakable sound of an Austerity demolishing the back wall of a brick build loco shed.

Steadfast
When it ran five years or so back I believe so, but since it's restarted this year it's always been an EH man. We assumed it'd be WY men on it because of that Jo

RMweb Gold 96701 Posted February 22, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 22, 2017 (edited) Just to show that not all railway workers work with trains, here is Doncaster's 76t breakdown crane holding a footbridge on the York station avoiding line while it is burnt through. I can't remember the exact date, but it was before the crane went onto TOPS because it still has its old number. In fact, I'll edit this post just to show you the number. I spoil you, I really do. coachmann
Posing..... I rarely fired one of our 2-6-4T's because they were for specific jobs (Oldham Clegg Street parcels jobs to Yorkshire and the 'Delph Goods', both of which were regular manned), but I was 'captured on camera' while assisting the firelighter and acting shed turner... This was early one very windy Saturday morning. The Black 5 wasn't ours but we had been told to use it on the Ashton Oldham Road pilot instead of an Austerity 2-8-0, the instruction being to 'hide it'. The shed foreman must have had a use for it the following Monday! My driver spent most of the morning playing cards while I went walkies investigating the web of lines around OA&GB Junction.....
