Its always a balance isn't it! And thanks for the kind comments too - hope we will see you at end of July

Phil

You will indeed. Definitely Saturday, and if I've got nothing happening on Friday I might also be able to help then. Please could you PM me some more information, such as start time?

You know what I think they should do. Before you all moan at the many risks, I think the F&WHR loco (whatever it is) should come equipped with at least 100 yards of track and a coach, and then offer shuttle rides between Highley 'box and the Engine House. If the NYMR can do it in Grosmont tunnel, why can't we? Surely anything they do we can do better? :)

Just announced on Facebook...

"We're thrilled to announce the final visiting locomotive for our Autumn Steam Gala...and it's 154 years old!

Courtesy of Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways, we're delighted to welcome back No. 2 Prince.

The 1863 built 'Small England' was on static display at The Engine House at Highley for a couple years, and it will return to the Railway from September 21st - 24th - this time in steam!

The locomotive will be running on all four days at The Engine House, paired with a replica Victorian carriage, giving you the opportunity to have a short ride on one of the Great Little Trains of Wales.

Prince completes the line-up for this year's event, starring alongside No. 926 Repton, Y14 No. 564 and No. 323 Bluebell.

We'll see you there for our BIGGEST steam event of the year, with all-night running and many more special attractions."

According to my father that very Clayton was the yard pilot of Fountainhall, on the Borders line, in the early 60s when he was growing up there in the station house (my grandfather was the station master)! It's a small world we live in.

Smashing photos Gareth

How long is the Clayton staying?

Phil

My understanding is that she is with us til September and then goes onto the Dean Forest Railway before returning to the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway. Really enjoyed the ride behind her today... :)

New topic within this. Is anyone going to the 40's weekends June 25th / 26th & July 1st / 2nd? And are you going in period dress? We need to know. And we need photos after.

I might be doing a turn on the Saturday of that weekend, not sure in what department though. But if I'm not working then I might wear a tweed jacket I've had for a while but not got round to properly wearing. Anyone going as Captain Mainwaring?

Two new Flickr sets this week, 04th July and 05th July. Main focus with these two sets has been GWR 813 which has been working with 1501 on a special with GWR Observation Coach 80969. A first for 813 as well is her working on wedding specials which she certainly looked very good on. Besides that the usual photos I can get...

What was the class 66 doing Bob?

Cheers from Oz,

Peter C.

Hi 45568....

Unsure of the exact details but I believe it was private charter?  Certainly was 'different'.....!

Regards

Bob

The 66, Biomass hoppers and the shark were a management charter for GBRF. It was very different working with LMS and LNER coaches either side of these things. If you think some coaches are big. These hoppers are rather large.
