blueeighties
Roof fans on the Heljan 26 and 27 are quite frankly, a bit rubbish. Also a bit of a pain to replace, as the hole is oversize, the Shawplan replacement grille is scale sized. So, a new plasticard filler ring is fitted and filed and filled smooth. Much easier to do whilst body stripped of paint. 007 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Starting work on another pile of 56s, all getting the full Shawplan treatment. 003 by rothburyuk, on Flickr A quartet of 7mm 26s on the bench. 013 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 7mm 25. 008 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Getting a feel and playing about with size for the new depot building. 019 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 020 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 030 by rothburyuk, on Flickr A couple of my finished locos looking very much at home. 027 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 022 by rothburyuk, on Flickr

blueeighties
Evening guys. God, I'm so busy! Updates are getting very sporadic, finsing it hard to find the time. Anyways.... First up a just about finished Hornby 08. Few little bits and pieces still to sort, but basically there. Repainted, weathered, detailed, sound and light fitted. 011 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 008 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 006 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 002 by rothburyuk, on Flickr More of the batch of 56s I'm currently working on. The last two days, have seen me adding cantrail stripes and handrails. Exciting eh? Being a finicky type, I rarely re use the Hornby original handrails, being plastic, they tend to disintegrate upon removal, and never look properly straight and true upon refitting. So... Today I have bent and refitted 112 new handrails, and drilled 256 locating holes. Think I will be having a break from this one for a couple of days. 018 by rothburyuk, on Flickr The nose end 'curved' bar ones are a bit of a pain. The two centre locating prongs are cut and fitted first, when secure they help to create the curve when affixing the main rail at either outer end. 015 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Worth the effort. 020 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Cantrails. I use a combination of transfers, lining pen, and paint touch up. The 56s are particularly tricky because of all of the cantrail grille catches...one can't just run a single piece of transfer the whole length. So, just as a bit of interest, and a bit of justification to me for the job time(!), I realised today I have cut and fitted 240 individual pieces of cantrail transfer. The gaps around the tricky bits are touch painted in, the curved cab ends are done with a lining pen. 019 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 012 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 021 by rothburyuk, on Flickr A bit of a bane of my life in the workshop, Heljan 7mm class 26s.
