Southwich
Evening all, Tahnks Neil and David! Today with the help of my grandad I've began to instal one of the servo point motors using MERG boards. First off I programmed the servo on the test point: Edit: youtube link: Next I made up the tie bars for the points, they need painting much too shiny! Point tie bar by southwichrailway, on Flickr Finally some shots of 60018 on the point exiting the cement sidings: 60018 over the new tie bar by southwichrailway, on Flickr 60018 over the new tie bar by southwichrailway, on Flickr Any feedback is much appreciated! Jintyman
Hi Will, What tie bar have you used there, and is there any electrical isolation in it as I can't see any? Both the tie and stretcher bar look great, and work well looking at your video Jinty ;-)

After the brass tubing was soldered into the middle we scratched through the copper to insulate it and ensure there would be no shorts. Hopefully the servo motor should be installed this morning. Southwich
Evening all, Today I've finally got all the linkages working for the servo point motor, of course with the help of my grandad. Just a few photos of the mechanics: New Southwich point assembly by southwichrailway, on Flickr The assembly consists of stiff piano wire, the insides of a chocolate box and brass custom made pieces to hold the servo and connect the piano wire to the tie bar. Jintyman
Hi Will, All working smoothly. The only thing I'm noticing is that the far point blade is sitting a touch high and may cause you some problems. It may just be a trick of the camera angle. I still love that 'Duff', superb machine Jinty ;-)

I think it was a bit high but this video was taken just before it was lowered into the final position so it shouldn't give us any problems! I also think the camera angle exaggerated it, but it's all sorted now! I see what you mean about the 47, Cav did a cracking job on it! Well I wonder who's responsible for the back dating then????? The ballasting is coming on well Will, and I enjoyed the earlier video too. those servo's are smooth and quiet aren't they. would've been an option for me, but I've decided on the Cobalt IP route.
