A pair of ex Midland locos bask in the Spring sunshine....Highbridge March 1958.

Rob.

In real life - a slightly different pair but the same location (I guess) in 1961  I still haven't got my wharf sidings and buildings going. Too much going on family-wise!

I often overlook the 2P and its involvement with the branch, Phil. May have to re dress the balance somewhat.

I get the impression that locos were sometimes just parked on the wharf towards the end of the S&D and certainly Dad has no photos of 2Ps working the Somerset Central line. There are also none on that line in the Newman Family website http://www.newman-family-tree.net/s&d/index.html, although they were a favorite class of Chris Newman.

To the north of Bristol, not far from Coalpit Heath, a watery sun shines on the houses of Railway Terrace, who's occupants look out over the Midland Railway goods yard at Callow Lane:

A veritable blast from the past but well worth sharing Mon Capataine.

Substituting for a failed Templecombe Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T, Barrow Road's 82044 is seen here crossing the Cam brook just to the west of Engine Wood station, with a Bristol TM to Templecombe train in the early 1960s:

There are a couple of photos of 82044 in Dad's albums - this one passing through Highbridge (B&E) http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/image/84892-br-262t-82044-highbridge-early-1963/ and this one at Wells     http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/image/75411-cw07-82044-at-wells-on-14th-march-1960/

Very nice, Phil, thanks.

It would be nice to see 82045 on the main line sometime in the future, well, on any line really!

Good idea; quite a few layouts I've seen at exhibitions seem to overlook that, IMHO, important influence.

Thanks,

I do most of my work under natural balanced lighting anyway, so I rarely get surprises, but if I can get a natural daylight look over it I take the opportunity when its there.
