RMweb Premium newbryford Posted April 11, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 11, 2016 Hi Shoey, sorry only just seen your reply. Colin Craig (sorry Pete). Good choice and he does do big bags full and the killer...they are all pre shelled... No cutting out or filing required ! Brief pause in the HIAs as I've been tied up at the weekends. Have just ordered the Railtec HIA transfers (back in stock today) so I'll be applying some alternative numbers and need to remove some of the strengthening bits before going any further. I wouldn't normally bother renumbering, so I'm pushing the boat out on these ones. Cheers Nick Hi Nick, I presume you've seen my HIA with two ribs removed? Now completed six with two ribs. Just waiting to collect (I need to drop off a memory stick) about 50 pics of HIAs from a mate who has been up to Arcow Quarry twice in the last week or so. Cheers, Mick
rs4
Hi Mick I did see your rib removal ..... It got me twitching with the scalpel ! Sounds like an episode of Holby..... Think I'm gonna have to do some now....all your fault.... If I'm missing a finger or two when I see you at DEMU you know why. Nick

RMweb Premium newbryford Posted April 13, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 13, 2016 Photos below are by S Moore, used with permission. 396055 and 396118 are de-branded. The remains of FL logos are still visible on 118. Two grades of load are carried on the same train from Arcow. Cheers, Mick
rs4
Very handy Mick - thanks. I have come across another one today 369058 which was / is logo less on one side (unsure on other) Handily I see that 369118 is on the Railtec renumber set.... I've gone through the Dapol numbers, Railtec numbers and decided on which are to be renumbered, and which need the 2 ribs removed (7). Done 6 so far. The white ones unfortunately will rename the same numbers for now. Handbrushed over the scars for now, hoping that some grime will further cover them up: WOWWWWW. Stretched photo alert ! Edit: just viewed Matthews photo of 058. Useful. Ta Edited April 15, 2016 by rs4
rs4
Hi. Quick trial on removing the transfers using T Cut and a cotton bud. Mask up area to protect the rest of the body etc ! Worked very nicely; They are quite tough....for Dapol.... But a little careful perseverance and all good. Cheers Nick
rs4
EDIT....apologies Dapol...my mess up on the wagon sides ! Having taken apart and swiftly reassembled I've mixed the sides up... Sorry. Picture the scene. I've got 21 wagons. I'm trying to be organised here what with renumbering, ribs, missing logos etc. Anyway, there I am removing further numbers etc ..... Eh ..... What's going on here ???? Sorry to report but I have found that some of the wagons have 2 numbers printed on the opposite sides..... Examples: 369002 has 369020 on the other side...... 369008 has 369020 Another 369008 is correct... White 369044 has 027 Another 369008 has 369002 369020.... 369020 369002 has 369052 Another ..white .369027 correct Another 369044 is correct. So, a right mess up and there is no apparent rhyme or reason to the error. And no, it's 1520 and the bar has yet to open at this establishment.... RMweb Gold Andy7 Posted April 17, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 17, 2016 (edited) How odd. The only thing I can think to say is that it proves how unimportant different numbers on wagons is! It took you (a wagon aficionado) until now to spot. I'm still thinking about doing mine. Looking forward to your full completed rake. Presumably you mixed up the sides when you stripped them down. Most importantly, you haven't got a wagon with one green and one white side......... rs4
Hey Mick..... What an idiot I now feel. Yes... OF COURSE ! I can do green and white if you fancy it ! Bloomin' 'ell..... Panic over. Apologies Dapol. Anyone got a spare brain ? Believe it or not this is the first time I've bothered to renumber wagons -maybe the last

rs4
on a related note, "Billion Dollar Brain" - now there is a CLASSIC film. One of my faves. The story is roughly as follows: Bloke messes up taking apart and putting wagons together - all very Cold War stuff. Michael Caine plays Harry "the wagon" Palmer, a sort of secret agent wagon spy. Gripping, especially the bit where....... Error, error error, buffers...hit the buffers.... Buffer over run.... Old buffer.... Out of memory.... Memory ? Over and out. railtec-models
Thanks Mick; new pack just sorted. Now includes some black panels for 369022-48. We've even worked off photos of the real vehicles to reflect the actual ton and tare weights...
