RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted October 3, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) My photographer is available to help record events should you so wish? Here is one of her earlier shots. I can't 'celebrate' the closure of dear old Brent, however I shall have some more of this to mark the occasion. Quackers. cary hill
Any suggestions for photos to 'celebrate' 50 years since Brent station closed this weekend. The last ever stopping train calling at Brent should have one of these: "Evening Star" seems an appropriate locomotive for this sad duty. There should be a special train to recover the redundant cordylines for replanting at Totnes.

cary hill
What about the rhino and the Finching's bench? The last Rhino left Brent on the 6th April 1964*, shortly after the British Transport Police arrested the Directors of the Brent Rhino Rustling Ring (established 1947) in the Packhorse. I think I reported that the wrecking gang recovery crew had accidently destroyed and burnt the Finchings' bench much earlier in the thread (boo!), but it seems I was wrong and it was actually salvaged and moved to Willow House Residential Care Home, Hill Side, South Brent ,seen here: So the bench is there waiting for the Finchings, and it just needs Rob to persuade the Finchings to move into Willow House now Brent Station is closed.........(more boos) *6th April 1964 was the last day for Goods Traffic at Brent. cary hill
We can do without the cordylines..... I thought your dislike of cordylines was bordering on the pathological, until I googled images of "4mm Scale Cordylines" It seems to be a niche that ANTB makes a great contribution to, and I couldn't help noticing that there are three plans showing what must be your proposed cordyline planting scheme so all is not lost.
