A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

I think the firebox has the wrong profile- is it too late for the Mods to be toolified ?

Limpley, you mustn't say things like that on this lovely thread.

It's about time one of these passed through Brent....

too much greenery so far :)

I can remember reading Railway Modeller and an article on 'improving' one of these 'models' involving taking a few ml's out of the area behind the buffer beam as well as removing the moulded on nameplate housing! Amongst other things! ;)

Blimey those were the days! :O Do remember being inspired by the way! :D

As for Oulton Hall that's where the idea came from! :D

Cheers,

Mark

I still have one I did all that too, before I discovered Wills kits.

I as able to get several of the red ones at seriously discounted prices, long before it became a collectors item. Retailers couldn't sell them at list and let them go for whatever they could get to clear shelves. As the chassis was the basis for many of the Wills kits, my dad bought in bulk and threw the loco bodies away.

A platform sausage ! Hmmm you're tempting fate with that one :)

(2nd piccy)

For a moment, I thought the porters barrow was a giant rabbit, contemplating the philosophical existence of the platform sausage.

Ah, that touching story of unrequited love and the spurned swain seeking solace in comfort eating.

That line echoes down the annals of romantic literature:

"I was so upset I cried all the way to the chip shop."

They just don't write pathos like that any more.
