Nice yard light towers Phil :sungum:

cheers neil...

credit for the light towers must go to keith 'pylonman' here on rmweb as they are two of his a slightly shorter version than i understand he's done before at only 200mm tall. i asked him to do them shorter as the layout is not massive and is based on a relatively small semi-rural terminus (at least thats the idea in my head im working to) then i didnt want them to be to tall to overwhelm the layout.

I must talk to him again soon as i have decided i need a third one bur of a different design. i want it to be the same height but of a more football flood light design so that all the lights are facing one way so that it can be placed at the edge of the yard that is furthest away from the plaforms and shed light across the yard.

sorry for the untidy nature of the layout its been in a permanent state of work now for around a year. not much has run but the work is keeping me occupied and in a way although it may sound strange but i really have enjoyed just doing the modification to the design interms of the major work and then the nodelling of the sceneery etc even though ive not run anything. dont get me wrong i love to run trains but its been wonderful to have such big project of construction and scenery to dig my teeth into. although im gonna love having a layout i can have some great running sessions on again its gonna be a bit of a sad day once all the work im in the progress of doing has been completed.

thanks to my great friends mags and al i have had and get the privelige to be an operator on the wonderful exhibition layout warren lane (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/23763-warren-lane/) and this has given my locos and rolling stock a great amount of running and me a great amount of enjoyment and enthusiasm for modelling. it has also given me the impetus to push my modelling skills far beyond where they were before and i really appreciate the help and advice everyone from warren lane has given me. Its now one month and a day until warren lanes next outing at basingstoke on the 8th and 9th of march. i cant wait.

have had five minutes for a little progress this weekend. so have chipped my lafarge liveried class 20. i'll post some pictures once its been weasthered. also have constructed from 6mm ply with a support beam of 18mm mdf the shelf that will support my controller and the wifi signal booster that connects to it so that i ca use my ipod and touchcab app as a remote controller to control trains from any position next to the layout.

first empty and held in place to check fitting.

Had a great railway day today. Spent it running some of Porthcressa stock, including my new A4 pacific "Dwight D Eisenhower" on Dalby Wood layout owned by Warley Model Railway Ckub at their open day today. Looking forward to my next show with them at Peterborough this year.

Will post some pics and videos of the Porthcressa stock in action in the morning.

Looking good bud, will we see trains running this year? ;) race you!

I accept your challenge mate.

Trains running could be a possibility within weeks. Trains running on a layout that looks finished and not like building site now that's a challenge.

How's yours coming on?

P.s. The n gauge layout had its track laid today. Just one modification to be done. Another set of points and a loco headshunt. Gotta do Hattons order. Going to pick up the ballast for the n gauge at Basingstoke.

Good stuff, you'll probably beat me. Remember the last pic of pen on board? It's still at that state! I need to tackle the sector plate before any track is laid. Although I do have 18ft of fiddle yard in the garage I could connect the old h&m duette to.....

How's progress on repair to fiddle yard going?

Before leaving for the west midlands, trolley virtually finished. Controls are in the planning stage (I want to try something different but can't find my book that identifies ic chip layouts) and overcomplicating track planning what should be a simple 2 track line through open countryside to go with it!
